Job Description

Safety Coordinator Lawrence Lee Construction Services is seeking a field-focused Safety Coordinator to promote a proactive safety culture across our water, wastewater and civil construction projects. This position will partner with company leadership to develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive company-wide safety program, including policies, training, incident reporting, compliance, workplace inspections, corrective actions, and employee safety initiatives. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement a company safety program & curriculum in partnership with operations and human resources. Conduct jobsite inspections, audits and hazard assessments. Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate corrective actions with project teams. Monitor employee and subcontractor compliance with safety requirements. Assist with project safety plans, Job Hazard Analyses, emergency response plans and work permits. Lead new hire and visitor orientations, toolbox talks and ongoing safety training. Investigate injuries, incidents, near misses and property damage; complete root-cause analyses and corrective action tracking. Maintain training records, inspection reports, incident documentation, and regulatory files. Represent LLCS during owner, regulatory and insurance safety inspections. Support continuous improvement of company safety programs and practices. Exercise stop-work authority when an imminent danger or serious safety hazard exists. Monitor compliance with OSHA requirements, company safety policies, project-specific safety plans and owner or municipal requirements. Qualifications At least three years of construction safety experience, preferably in heavy civil, utility, water or wastewater construction. Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards, including fall protection, trenching and excavation, confined spaces, lockout/tagout and heavy-equipment operations. Strong communication, organization, and report writing skills. Proficiency with MS Office and electronic safety or construction management systems. Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly between project sites. Preferred Credentials OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification. CHST, STSC, ASP, CSP or comparable safety designation. Current First Aid/CPR certification. Experience supporting municipal infrastructure projects. Physical and Work Requirements Approximately 80% travel to active project sites using a company vehicle. Ability to walk uneven terrain, climb ladders, access excavations and inspect elevated work areas. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. One office day per week in Stuart or Fort Myers, with the remaining time spent at project sites. Project travel may include Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St Lucie, Martin, Palm Beach, Lee and Collier counties, and other Florida locations.
