Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Overnight Fire Watcher to join our team immediately. This role is vital in ensuring the safety and security of construction sites, buildings, and facilities during overnight hours. As an Overnight Fire Watcher, you will be responsible for monitoring fire safety systems, inspecting premises for hazards, and maintaining a secure environment through active surveillance and adherence to fire safety regulations. This position offers an energetic work environment where proactive safety measures are prioritized, and your attention to detail makes a difference in preventing potential fire incidents. Duties Conduct continuous surveillance of construction sites or facilities during overnight shifts to detect fire hazards or safety violations. Monitor and inspect fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, and other fire safety equipment to ensure proper operation. Perform routine inspections for building code compliance, life safety standards, and adherence to NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately while inspecting hazardous areas such as hazmat zones or construction sites. Document all observations, incidents, and inspections accurately in shift reports and logs for accountability and follow-up. Respond promptly to emergency situations following established emergency response procedures to mitigate risks effectively. Collaborate with security personnel, contractors, or emergency responders as needed to maintain public safety and enforce fire codes and regulations. Skills Strong knowledge of fire prevention inspections, fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, and NFPA standards. Familiarity with building code analysis, life safety building codes, and International Fire Code (IFC) compliance requirements. Experience with construction inspection, system design related to fire safety, and construction experience is highly desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for report writing and documentation purposes. Demonstrated supervisory experience in overseeing safety protocols or managing teams during shifts. Ability to operate fire apparatus or firefighting equipment confidently when required. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with team members and the public about safety procedures. Knowledge of emergency response procedures, respiratory protection use, alarm system sales, and fire prevention education strategies. Understanding of building code compliance related to fire safety measures such as sprinklers and alarm systems.
