Director for Student Services

QUALIFICATIONS

Up to 19 hours per week

Daytime availability required

Experience with high school discipline/hearing officer/high school admin experience required.

Experience working with law enforcement/school safety preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Review new student enrollments with discipline history for placement decisions through the SERC (Student Enrollment Review Committee) process

Facilitate the SERC process for existing students with outside-of-school felony charges

Maintain appropriate documentation of placement decisions and communicate with site registrars

Draft waiver and hearing documentation in collaboration with site directors

Work with site directors around the signing of waivers when appropriate

Prepare for, attend, and represent Foothills at all disciplinary hearings

Review all discipline entries and check for alignment with the Code of Student Conduct

Work with site directors to maintain consistency in the development of behavior contracts when necessary

Assist with discipline training for Foothills site leaders

Assist with annual revisions to the Code of Student Conduct

Coordinates the state Safe Schools Grant.

Oversee and implement the components of HB 268

Serve as the point of contact for local law enforcement agencies for reporting "official encounters" with school-aged youth.

Assist with the implementation of behavioral threat assessment management plans in the School Safety Plans.

Work with the Safety Coordinator to facilitate the annual safety plan updates

Updates school policy and procedures, as needed, by state and federal laws.

Collaborates closely with the school resource officers (SRO's) including providing training and professional development opportunities.

Handles all state and federal reporting dealing with safe schools.

Assists the administrative staff with security concerns.

Attends scheduled Safe School Meetings as Foothills representative.

Communicates effectively with students, parents, administration, and staff.

Participate in monthly Regional Student Services Team Meetings
