Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating various vehicles, including school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vehicles, to transport passengers efficiently and securely. Your primary focus will be ensuring passenger safety, adhering to traffic laws and transportation safety regulations, and providing excellent customer service. Assist passengers with wheelchair boarding and disembarking, providing wheelchair assistance with care and professionalism. Follow traffic laws diligently while responding quickly to traffic changes or unexpected road conditions. Ensure passenger safety through proper behavior management and adherence to school policies or transit protocols. Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to verify operational safety and report any mechanical issues promptly. Maintain clear communication with dispatchers and passengers using effective communication skills; provide information on routes or schedules as needed. Respond appropriately to emergency situations by following emergency response procedures for transportation, including CPR and first aid when necessary. Assist with loading heavy luggage or mobility devices safely while practicing proper lifting techniques. Comply with all transportation safety regulations, vehicle codes, and company policies to ensure a secure environment for all passengers. Skills Proven experience in bus driving, school bus operation, or transit bus operation is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations. Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities. Demonstrated ability to respond quickly to traffic changes and emergency situations with calmness and efficiency. Experience working with children or seniors is preferred; ability to manage student discipline or passenger behavior effectively. Knowledge of emergency response procedures for transportation including CPR and first aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when assisting passengers or handling luggage or mobility aids. Familiarity with school policy knowledge related to student behavior management and discipline procedures. Strong writing skills for completing reports such as incident logs or shift documentation.
