Job Description

EHS & Quality Technician Location:
Reports to Site General Manager Position Summary The EHS & Quality Technician supports EQI's Safety and Quality Management System with a continuous improvement mindset. This role is responsible for ensuring product EHS, quality, compliance with customer and regulatory requirements, and effective resolution of issues in the facility. The EHS & Quality Technician reports to the General Manager and works closely with EHS, Quality Engineers/Specialists, Product Engineers, Operations, and Supply Chain personnel both on site and at the corporate office. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, data-driven problem solving, and effective cross-functional collaboration. Essential Functions Manage and support the implementation of EHS & quality, procedures, and work instructions in compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements Assure conformance to specifications for incoming and finished products Conduct and support safety and quality inspections, including: In process audits EHS audits Incoming and outgoing product inspections Finish paint inspections Parts and specification compliance reviews Customer inspections and audits Conducts new employee orientations for EHS and Quality topics Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to EHS incidents and quality nonconformances Partner with site leadership to manage safety & quality expectations with employees, contractors, suppliers, and vendors Support risk and hazard assessments for job safety (JSA) and product quality Use data systems to track, manage, and report EHS and Quality metrics; prepare KPI reports and trend analysis Support training documentation and ensure EHS & quality-related training requirements are tracked and completed Manage customer quality issues in partnership with Quality Engineers/Specialists, including: Timely response to customer complaints or nonconformances Data collection and communication with EQI's global supply chain Participation in the 8D corrective action process and follow-up to closure Monitor customer quality performance and provide on-site customer support as needed Support specification distribution and training processes Creates and manages training matrices to ensure all training is defined and tracked to completion Provide best-practice guidance related to EHS & quality processes and inspections Oversee rework, repair, and inspection activities as needed to minimize cost and customer impact Perform general support functions for EHS and Quality team members Maintain EHS documentation, records, permits, and compliance reports Manage onsite safety programs and initiatives (PPE, contractor safety, emergency preparedness, …) Qualifications Minimum two (2) years of EHS & quality experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environment High school diploma or GED required Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard control principles, and safety best practices Certifications in Quality and/or Continuous Improvement preferred Interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards Ability to read and interpret safety procedures, standards, and regulatory documents Ability to conduct measurement and testing using tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments Certifications such as OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, or other safety credentials (preferred but not always required) Experience with Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001 preferred) Demonstrated experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies Proven ability to analyze quality data and drive continuous improvement SDS management Fundamental understanding of lean manufacturing principles Ability to lead and support cross-functional teams Highly preferred: Experience with wet painting and powder coating processes, including inspection criteria, defect identification, and process controls
