Job Description

Job Title:
Temporary Health & Safety Administrative Assistant (Manufacturing)
Position Type:
Temporary (Full-Time / Part-Time)
Hours:
30-40 hours per week
Shift:
Flexible hours scheduled between 7:00 AM - 4:00
PM Location:
Homer, MI Hourly Rate:
$19.00/hour

Ongoing temporary assignment (open-ended schedule)Job SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented Temporary Health & Safety Administrative Assistant to support the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team at our manufacturing facility. This role focuses on maintaining compliance records, tracking plant-floor safety training, and organizing documentation required by OSHA and corporate standards. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment, prioritizes shop-floor safety, and possesses strong administrative skills to keep our facility compliant and our workers safe. This position offers a flexible daytime schedule between 30 and 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities Training & Onboarding Tracking:
Log and track safety training records for plant personnel, including forklift certifications, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and hazardous materials handling.
Incident Log Management:
Assist in maintaining the
OSHA 300
log and filing paperwork for near-misses, property damage, and worker's compensation claims.
Plant Audit Assistance:
Compile, digitize, and file daily safety checklists, machine guarding audits, and industrial hygiene reports.
PPE Inventory Control:
Track, organize, and order plant safety supplies, including safety glasses, earplugs, steel-toe boot vouchers, and high-visibility gear.
Safety Committee Support:
Schedule monthly plant safety committee meetings, document action items, and distribute minutes to area supervisors.
Visual Safety Communication:
Update plant safety bulletin boards, digital dashboards, and signage with current incident-free day counts and safety alerts.
Qualifications and Skills Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
1-2 years of administrative experience, ideally within a manufacturing plant, warehouse, or industrial environment.
HSE Background:
Previous work history/interest in HSE is preferred but not required.
Pre-Employment Screening:
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pass a drug screen.
Regulatory Awareness:
Familiarity with basic OSHA regulations, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), or manufacturing safety terminologies is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and experience entering data into tracking systems.
Physical & Environment Requirements:
Ability to occasionally walk the manufacturing floor to check safety boards or inventory, which requires wearing PPE (safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection).
Communication:
Clear, direct communication style comfortable interacting with line operators, maintenance staff, and plant management.
Pay:
$19.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 - 40.0 per week
