Job Description

EHS SPECIALISTAUBURN HILLS, MI - LEAR PLANT

As a member of the Environmental, Health &Safety team, the EHS Specialist will be responsible for Supporting the EHS initiatives by assisting the implementation and maintenance of plant Environmental, Health, and Safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable federal, state, and corporate requirements.

Assist with environmental permitting, inspections, reporting, and documentation (e.g., air, waste, wastewater, SPCC, ISO 14001) by collecting data, maintaining records, and preparing draft reports and logs.

Participate in safety improvement activities including inspections, incident investigations, training coordination, ergonomic assessments, and workers' compensation administration to help reduce risk and promote a strong safety culture.

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to: Support implementation and maintenance of plant EHS programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and hazard identification activities, including JSAs and ergonomic reviews.

Assist with incident, near‑miss, and safety concern investigations, including documentation, corrective action tracking, and follow‑up.

Support development, coordination, and delivery of EHS training programs, including new‑hire orientation and refresher training.

Assist with environmental compliance activities, including waste management, air, water, and chemical programs, permitting, reporting, and recordkeeping.

Maintain EHS documentation, logs, and metrics, including training records, incident logs, corrective actions, and KPI reporting (e.g., TRIR, audits, near misses).

Support internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, emergency response planning, and drills.

Promote a proactive safety culture by participating in safety committees, plant meetings, employee engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Support EHS program deployment for new or expanding plant operations, including baseline risk assessments, safety readiness reviews, and onboarding support during ramp‑up.

Qualifications

Your Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field or equivalent experience

Knowledge of OSHA regulations and general manufacturing safety standards

Strong organizational and documentation skills

Ability to work in a fast‑paced, hands‑on manufacturing environment

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Bonus If You Have:

Manufacturing or plant environment experience

Experience supporting environmental compliance programs

OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, or similar certifications

Knowledge of ISO 14001 and/or

ISO 45001

Experience supporting plant launches or expansions
