Public Security Officer
Job Description
We are looking for dedicated Public Security Officers who are passionate about protecting people, supporting a safe healing environment, and being part of a team that truly makes a difference every day. This is more than a security role—you will be a trusted presence for patients, visitors, and staff, helping ensure safety, compassion, and professionalism across our campus. Our Security team is highly visible, well-respected, and fully integrated into hospital operations. We work closely with clinical teams, leadership, and emergency responders in a supportive environment where training, teamwork, and professional growth are a priority. What You'll Do Provide a visible, reassuring presence by performing regular patrols of hospital buildings and grounds Identify and address safety and fire hazards to help maintain a secure environment De-escalate tense, dynamic, and rapidly evolving situations using professionalism and sound judgment Support controlled access by ensuring individuals entering the facility are properly screened Enforce hospital policies and procedures that help protect patients, visitors, staff, and property Respond to emergency situations, including fire alarms and assistance requests, working alongside police, fire, and emergency management teams Support safe and efficient traffic and parking operations, including monitoring parking areas and emergency access routes Assist visitors and staff by providing directions and general support throughout the facility Conduct safety checks and required inspections in compliance with state and federal regulations Partner with hospital leadership and the Public Safety team to support a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment Participate in ongoing training, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities What We're Looking For High School Diploma or GED required Basic working knowledge of computers and common software programs Valid, non-restricted driver's license required Ability to obtain a Kentucky handgun permit after hire Must successfully complete required training and maintain firearms qualification (semi-annual requalification required) Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to respond calmly and effectively in crisis or high-stress situations Ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and individuals who may be distressed or disruptive Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to safety, service, and continuous improvement What We Offer A supportive, team-focused environment where your role has real impact every day Comprehensive training and ongoing professional development opportunities Exposure to a wide range of safety, emergency response, and healthcare security operations Opportunities to grow within public safety and broader healthcare careers A workplace culture built on teamwork, respect, and shared purpose
