Position Summary The Cary Institute is seeking a reliable and vigilant Full-Time Security Guard for the 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM shift, Monday through Friday. The guard will be responsible for securing Institute buildings and grounds, monitoring mechanical systems, and ensuring all visitors comply with established access policies. Essential Responsibilities Perform routine checks of all Institute buildings to ensure property and buildings are secure. Confirm that heating and other mechanical systems are functioning properly. Patrol Cary Institute roadways during assigned hours. Approach and engage visitors when necessary to ensure compliance with access policies. Complete a detailed written security report at the end of each shift worked. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Current Valid New York State Security Guard license, plus one(1) year experience as a Security Guard. Applicants with experience working in state/national parks or with wildlife is a plus. Must have a valid Driver's License. Must possess good communication skills and the ability to interact with the public effectively. Preferred Qualifications Working Conditions This is a Full-time Non-Exempt fully benefitted position Evening and night work required (4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, Monday through Friday). Must be able to perform foot and vehicle patrols in varying weather conditions.
