Location:
Splendora Junior High Campus Monitor Position Purpose Support a safe, orderly, welcoming, and student-centered school environment through active campus presence, proactive student supervision, relationship building, and assistance with daily campus operations. The Campus Monitor works collaboratively with campus administrators and staff to promote positive student behavior, reinforce campus expectations, assist students throughout the school day, and help maintain an environment conducive to teaching and learning. Qualifications High school diploma or GED Special Knowledge/Skills Ability to establish positive and professional relationships with students Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and visitors Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in challenging situations Ability to redirect student behavior respectfully and consistently Ability to follow established district and campus procedures Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to safety concerns Ability to maintain confidentiality Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to work collaboratively as part of a campus team Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs Other duties as assigned Experience Experience working with children, adolescents, schools, youth programs, public safety, customer service, or related settings preferred. Major Responsibilities and Duties Student Support and Campus Climate Maintain a visible, approachable, and supportive presence throughout assigned campus areas. Build positive relationships with students and contribute to a campus culture in which students feel safe, supported, respected, and connected to school. Reinforce campus expectations and encourage appropriate student behavior through positive interactions, clear communication, and consistent redirection. Help students locate classrooms, offices, personnel, or other campus resources. Recognize students who may need additional assistance and connect them with appropriate teachers, counselors, administrators, nurses, or other campus personnel. Use appropriate de-escalation and conflict-resolution strategies when responding to student concerns or disagreements. Encourage students to make positive choices and support campus efforts related to student engagement, responsibility, and school connectedness. Campus Safety and Supervision Provide active supervision in designated campus areas during the school day, including student arrival, dismissal, class transitions, common areas, cafeterias, entrances, exits, and other assigned locations. Promote the safe and orderly movement of students throughout the campus while minimizing disruptions to instructional time. Monitor campus conditions and promptly communicate safety concerns, unusual activity, facility concerns, or potential student issues to the appropriate administrator or staff member. Assist campus administration in maintaining appropriate access to the school and directing students and visitors to appropriate locations. Respond to campus situations as directed and provide assistance consistent with district procedures and the position's scope. Assist with emergency procedures, drills, evacuations, reunification activities, and other campus safety operations as assigned. Maintain awareness of campus surroundings and proactively address or report circumstances that could interfere with student safety or the school's orderly operation. Student Behavior and Administrative Support Support administrators and teachers in reinforcing the Student Code of Conduct, campus procedures, and behavioral expectations. Redirect students when necessary using respectful, age-appropriate, and professional communication. Notify campus administration of significant or recurring student behavior concerns, and provide factual information about incidents you personally observed. Assist with student transitions or temporary supervision when requested by campus administration. Support campus efforts to reduce disruptions, prevent conflicts, and maintain an environment focused on student learning. Assist administrators with locating students when needed for instructional, attendance, counseling, health, safety, or administrative purposes. Maintain appropriate documentation or incident information as requested by campus administration. Campus Operations Assist with campus arrival and dismissal procedures to promote student safety and efficient campus operations. Support special events, assemblies, extracurricular activities, testing days, and other campus activities as assigned. Assist visitors and members of the school community by providing directions and connecting them with appropriate campus personnel. Communicate promptly with administrators regarding concerns affecting students, staff, facilities, or campus operations. Work cooperatively with teachers, counselors, administrators, school resource officers, district police, and other personnel when appropriate. Participate in required district and campus training and professional development. Maintain confidentiality regarding student, employee, and district information. Follow district policies, administrative regulations, campus procedures, and supervisor directives. Perform other duties as assigned by the campus principal or designee. Professional Expectations Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, discretion, and sound judgment. Maintain positive and respectful interactions with students, employees, parents, and community members. Serve as a positive adult presence and role model for students. Maintain appropriate boundaries with students at all times. Demonstrate patience and consistency when responding to student behavior. Work effectively as part of a collaborative campus team. Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Standard office and communication equipment; district-issued radio or other communication device as assigned.
Posture:
Frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
Motion:
Frequent walking throughout campus facilities and grounds; ability to move quickly when responding to student or campus needs.
Lifting:
Occasional light lifting and carrying.
Environment:
Work is performed throughout the school campus and may include indoor and outdoor environments. Position may involve exposure to temperature variations, noise, large groups of students, and high-traffic areas.
Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions; respond appropriately to unexpected situations; exercise sound judgment and effective interpersonal skills when working with students and adults.
Other Information:
The District contributes $330 monthly toward the cost of the employee-only health insurance, which is $105 more than the state-required amount of $225/month. All employees in this position receive free treatment at any Next Level Urgent Care.
Pay grade:
