It's boats and floatplanes only, and the town sits right up against the Juneau Icefield, the Coast, Mountains, and the Tongass Rainforest. If you'd rather be outside than anywhere else, this is your kind of place. The salmon and halibut fishing is about as good as it gets, there's deer, bear, and mountain-goat hunting, and the trails and backcountry start right at your doorstep. Throw in an awesome downtown, kayaking, skiing, and country you'll want a camera for. Alaska has no state income tax, and residents get a Permanent Fund Dividend check every year. It's a great place to be. The honest part: it rains a lot here. Winters run long and dark, and the wet coastal cold hangs around right through our winter maintenance stretch. The folks who do well up here can look after themselves and love the scenery or being outdoors. If that sounds like you, and you're up for the adventure, chances are you won't want to leave. Let's talk Want to be proud of the aircraft you sign off and trade the big-shop grind for mountains, glaciers and the Alaskan coast? Send your resume and bring your questions.
