Overview Seeking a full-time Fire System Technician to join our growing team! Become a vital part of our Signaling System Solutions team ensuring safety and compliance across commercial and industrial facilities. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, and related low-voltage electrical components including but not limited to wet, dry and pre-action per NFPA standards. Projects include tenant improvements, repair work, and service. Must be able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, working within crawl spaces and confined spaces, working above ceilings, building rooftops, etc. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your mechanical knowledge, electrical experience, and technical skills in a fast-paced environment dedicated to safety excellence. Duties Install, test, and commission fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, and proprietary fire alarm control panels in accordance with NFPA standards and local building codes. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, electrical blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering diagrams to execute system design and installation accurately. Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems to ensure ongoing compliance with fire codes and regulations. Use hand tools, power tools, voltmeters, sensors, and other field service equipment to diagnose issues and perform repairs efficiently. Maintain detailed service records, inspection logs, system schematics updates, and compliance documentation for each project or service call. Collaborate with clients to provide exceptional customer service by explaining system functions, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols clearly. Experience Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a fire alarm technician or service technician working with fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, or low-voltage electrical work. Strong understanding of fire alarm system installation including proprietary control panels, sensors, wiring schematics, and NFPA standards. Knowledge of building code compliance related to fire protection systems and experience conducting construction inspections. Mechanical aptitude combined with electrical troubleshooting skills; familiarity with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards is highly desirable. Hands-on experience with fire sprinkler fitting, low voltage wiring, electrical work, and the use of testing tools such as voltmeters or multimeters. Preferred NICET certification level II (water based systems)Minimum 2-years experience conducting Fire Sprinkler inspections Preferred Certificate of Fitness for City of Portland for Sprinkler, Fire Extinguisher and Hood systems. Preferred State of Oregon / Washington Backflow testing certificate(s). Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be able to pass a background check. Must be reliable, dependable, and punctual and have excellent communication skills, using tact and diplomacy when dealing with customers. Must be a self-starter that can work with little or no supervision, have strong organizational skills, and a positive attitude.

Pay:

$40.00 - $50.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
