Duties Install, operate, maintain, repair, and sustain in an operational status, a variety of target systems and components of systems. Operate computer-controlled target systems console and execute scenario sequences for operations. Operate and perform maintenance (to include operator level troubleshooting and making authorized repair/ replacements) on AC/DC powered target devices. Conduct operator level maintenance on Stationary Infantry Targets, Moving Infantry Targets, Stationary Armor Targets, and Moving Armor Targets. Operate and maintain vehicle(s) assigned to the organization. Cut grass, clean target pits, reshape target berms, service batteries, service target devices, and remove debris from training ranges. Perform basic carpentry work as required. Perform inspecting, cleaning, servicing, preserving, lubricating, adjusting, troubleshooting, testing duties; and making authorized repair/ replacements. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment. Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis. Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime. This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer. This position will require the incumbent to enroll in the Lead Abatement Program which will require annual medical screening. This position will require the incumbent to enroll in the Army Respiratory Program which will require annual medical screening. Incumbent must wear respiratory protection (wear of respirators). When wearing tight-fitting respirators, facial hair must be removed in order to facilitate a proper seal.

I can perform repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure proper and safe operation, as well as perform basic carpentry work. I can make mechanical adjustments to a variety of systems or components. I can operate common power and hand tools, as well as other electrical devices, to perform simple maintenance tasks. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Trouble Shooting Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort:

Makes repairs and installations from ladders, trenches, and hard to reach places. Stands, stoops, bends, kneels, climbs, and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Work requires climbing up and down a steep flight of stairs to perform assignments. Frequently lifts and carries equipment and parts that weigh up to 45 pounds.

Working Conditions:

Works primarily outside, in dirt, dust and mud. Is sometimes required to make repairs and installations outside in windy or cold weather. Is occasionally exposed to possibility of broken bones, electrical shock and burns. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
