Mobicare Automotive Repair — Hubert, NC Full-Time Mobicare Automotive Repair is looking for an experienced A-Level Automotive Technician who can walk into a shop, take ownership of their work, and get the job done without needing to be babysat. This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for a technician with strong mechanical and diagnostic ability who is comfortable working on a vehicle front to rear . You should be just as comfortable diagnosing an electrical problem as you are replacing an engine or transmission.

Just as important:

you must know how to document what you find. What We're Looking For The right technician should be able to: Diagnose and repair vehicles independently with minimal supervision Perform advanced electrical and drivability diagnostics Read and interpret wiring diagrams Diagnose CAN/network, module, sensor, circuit, and communication problems Perform voltage drop, resistance, amperage, waveform, and other electrical testing when appropriate Diagnose check-engine lights, misfires, fuel issues, overheating, A/C concerns, charging systems, starting systems, and other complex problems Replace engines and transmissions Perform internal and external engine repairs Handle timing components, cooling systems, suspension, steering, brakes, HVAC, and general mechanical repairs Properly use scan tools, scopes, meters, service information, and other diagnostic equipment Verify repairs instead of assuming the problem is fixed Perform thorough digital vehicle inspections Communicate clearly with the service advisor and other technicians Manage your workload and take initiative without waiting to be told what to do next Your Inspection Notes Need to Tell the Story This is a major requirement. We are not looking for inspections that say: "Brakes bad." "Needs control arm." "Oil leaking." Your inspection should read like an essay of knowledge .

We want detailed notes explaining:

What you inspected What you observed Measurements and test results when applicable Why the component failed or why you believe it is failing How the condition affects the vehicle What additional testing was performed What repair you recommend and why Photos and supporting evidence when applicable For diagnostic work, your notes should allow another qualified technician to read the repair order and understand what you tested, how you tested it, what the results were, and how those results led to your conclusion. If you performed two hours of diagnostics, the repair order should show the value of those two hours. We Need a Technician, Not a Parts Changer We specialize heavily in diagnostics and problem vehicles. We want someone who asks "Why did this fail?" instead of immediately asking "What part do I replace?" Sometimes the answer is simple. Sometimes it requires a wiring diagram, scope, meter, pressure test, mechanical testing, service information, or slowing down and thinking through the system. You don't need to know everything. Nobody does. You do need to know how to find the answer. Culture Matters Technical ability alone will not make someone a good fit here.

Minimum Qualifications Professional automotive repair experience Strong mechanical repair background Advanced diagnostic and electrical troubleshooting ability Engine and transmission replacement experience Ability to independently diagnose vehicle concerns Ability to produce detailed written inspection and diagnostic notes Valid driver's license Own professional hand tools Ability to use modern diagnostic equipment and service information Ability to work Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. Additional hours may be required when workload dictates. ASE certifications are valued, but demonstrated ability matters more than a collection of patches. You May Be a Good Fit If... You can get handed a repair order, gather the information you need, develop a test plan, diagnose the vehicle, document your findings, communicate what it needs, perform the repair, verify the repair, and move on to the next vehicle without someone managing every step.
