EXPERIENCED
AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE ADVISOR / SERVICE WRITER
We are seeking an experienced professional Automotive Service Advisor / Service Writer to join our dealership service operation, •please note this is not an entry-level position• . Position is located in Pineville, NC and hours can either be 7a-4p or 9a-6p, Mon-Fri. Unlike a traditional retail-only repair facility, our service department primarily supports our own dealerships inventory and customers who have purchased vehicles from us.
Our primary responsibilities are:
1. Preparing dealership-owned vehicles to become Retail Ready for sale 2. Coordinating authorized warranty and service work after the sale 3. Customer pay maintenance and repair work This position requires someone who understands automotive repair operations, can effectively coordinate workflow between management and technicians, and recognizes the importance of getting vehicles properly repaired, documented, and completed in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years of verifiable Automotive Service Advisor / Service Writer experience required Strong working knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance Ability to understand technician diagnoses and repair recommendations Experience preparing, managing, and closing repair orders Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple vehicles simultaneously Strong organizational, documentation, and follow-up skills Excellent communication skills Ability to work closely with technicians, dealership management, and customers when necessary Basic computer and automotive service software proficiency Valid driver's license Dependable attendance and strong professional work ethic Current North Carolina State Inspection License is a definite plus
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES DEALERSHIP INVENTORY / RETAIL READY
Open and manage repair orders for dealership-owned inventory Coordinate vehicle inspections and needed mechanical repairs Review technician findings and repair recommendations Communicate needed repairs to management for authorization Prioritize work based on first in - first out Track vehicles throughout the repair and reconditioning process Follow up with technicians to ensure authorized work is completed efficiently Verify required repairs have been completed before vehicles are designated Retail Ready Maintain accurate documentation of repairs performed on dealership inventory Help prevent unnecessary delays that keep inventory from becoming available for sale Verify GPS has been installed and North Carolina State Inspection is completed successfully
AFTER-SALE WARRANTY & SERVICE WORK
Accurately document the customer's concern Coordinate diagnosis and repair with technicians Obtain necessary approvals before repairs are performed Keep customers appropriately informed regarding the status of their vehicles Ensure warranty repairs are properly documented Coordinate completion and vehicle delivery Maintain professional customer communication throughout the process
WORKFLOW & ACCOUNTABILITY
This position plays an important role in maintaining an efficient flow of vehicles through our service department. The Service Advisor must be able to determine what needs to be done, what has been authorized, who is responsible for completing it, and where each vehicle stands in the process. Vehicles should not sit unnecessarily because of poor communication, incomplete paperwork, lack of follow-up, or failure to properly prioritize work. The successful candidate will understand that this position is about more than answering phones and writing repair orders. It requires organization, automotive knowledge, follow-through, accountability, and the ability to manage workflow.
