This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has basic automotive or mechanical knowledge and wants to develop their skills in a professional fleet environment. Extensive professional mechanic experience is not required, but is welcomed. We are looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, willing to learn, safety-conscious, and capable of working both independently and alongside experienced team members. The position may require traveling between company locations, yards, and job sites to inspect, service, or repair vehicles. Responsibilities Perform routine preventive maintenance on company trucks and vehicles. Complete oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, lubrication, and other scheduled maintenance. Inspect brakes, tires, batteries, belts, hoses, lights, and other vehicle components. Assist with diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues. Perform basic repairs and component replacements under appropriate supervision. Assist with brake, suspension, steering, cooling, and charging system repairs. Identify worn, damaged, or unsafe vehicle components and report findings to management. Troubleshoot vehicle issues using basic diagnostic equipment and mechanical testing procedures. Respond to vehicle issues at company yards or job locations when necessary. Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed. Track parts and materials used during repairs. Keep tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas clean and organized. Follow manufacturer recommendations and company preventive-maintenance schedules. Perform pre- and post-repair inspections to ensure vehicles are safe and operational. Communicate clearly with supervisors regarding vehicle condition, required repairs, and estimated downtime. Follow all company safety policies and proper procedures when lifting vehicles, using power tools, handling fluids, or working around operating equipment. Assist experienced mechanics with more complex repairs as needed. Perform other fleet maintenance duties as assigned. Qualifications Basic understanding of automotive or truck maintenance and repair. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Familiarity with basic hand and power tools. Ability to identify common vehicle components and understand basic vehicle systems. Ability to follow instructions, technical procedures, and safety requirements. Strong attention to detail. Dependable attendance and ability to report to work on time. Ability to work independently after receiving appropriate training. Ability to communicate mechanical concerns clearly to supervisors. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record preferred/required based on company vehicle responsibilities. Automotive, diesel, trade school, or technical training is a plus but not required . Previous experience performing personal, automotive, fleet, or equipment repairs is a plus. Physical Requirements This position requires regular physical activity associated with vehicle maintenance, including: Standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and working underneath vehicles. Using hand and power tools for extended periods. Working indoors and outdoors depending on repair location. Working around grease, oil, dirt, vehicle fluids, noise, and varying weather conditions. Safely lifting and carrying automotive parts, tools, tires, batteries, and other materials. Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs. independently and heavier items with appropriate assistance or lifting equipment.
