Job Description

Automotive Technician - A-Level / Strong B-Level $25-$55/hour based on experience and capability Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM | No weekends Hourly pay — not flat rate If you're good at figuring out why a car is broken, we'd like to talk to you. Circle & Square Auto Care is looking for an experienced automotive technician to join our team. We're especially interested in someone who is comfortable with diagnostics and more involved repair work—the technician who doesn't just pull a trouble code and start replacing parts, but knows how to use service information, wiring diagrams, scan data, electrical testing, and good old-fashioned critical thinking to find the actual cause of a problem. We're known in our area for European diagnostics and repair, but we're not a European-only shop. Our bays see a healthy mix of European, Asian, and domestic vehicles. European experience is a big plus, but it isn't a requirement. If you're a strong technician with solid fundamentals and diagnostic ability, we'd still like to meet you. Why Circle & Square? We've been part of this community for 48 years . We're proud of that history and the reputation that comes with it—but we're not interested in standing still. We're actively working to build the next version of this shop around excellent workmanship, continued training, professional development, strong diagnostic skills, and a group of people who genuinely enjoy working together. One of our biggest priorities moving forward is creating a shop where technicians continue developing throughout their careers. We want Circle & Square to be the kind of place people talk about and say: "If you go work there, you're going to learn a lot." If you're already an excellent technician, we'll support you in continuing to sharpen your skills. If you're a strong B-level technician who's ready to become an A-tech, we'll help you build a path to get there. What matters most is that you care about your work, take care of the customer, help the person working beside you, and want to know more next year than you know today. What you'll be doing You'll work on a wide variety of vehicles and repairs, including: Advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting Electrical and drivability diagnosis Engine performance and mechanical repair Steering, suspension and brake systems Cooling systems Preventive maintenance and general repair Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and service information Using scan tools, DVOMs and other diagnostic equipment Performing thorough vehicle inspections Documenting test results, measurements and repair recommendations clearly Following manufacturer procedures and torque specifications Working with the rest of the team when a difficult problem needs another set of eyes We don't expect one technician to know everything. We do expect you to know how to find information, follow a diagnostic process, ask questions when necessary, and verify your work. What we're looking for We're primarily looking for an experienced A-level or strong B-level technician. A good fit will likely have: Several years of professional automotive repair experience Strong mechanical fundamentals Experience diagnosing electrical and drivability problems The ability to read wiring diagrams and follow manufacturer diagnostic procedures Experience using professional scan tools and service information Your own set of professional/journeyman hand tools A valid driver's license and insurable driving record Good documentation and communication habits Pride in doing the job correctly A willingness to work on the vehicle that's in front of you A desire to continue learning ASE certifications are valued but not required to apply . If you don't currently have them but want to pursue them, we'd like to help you get there. The kind of person we're hoping to find Technical ability matters. So does the person standing behind the toolbox. We want somebody who's reliable, shows up ready to work, enjoys the trade, and doesn't mind walking across the shop to help another technician solve a problem. We don't want knowledge guarded between bays. We want technicians learning from each other. Sometimes you'll know something another technician doesn't. Sometimes they'll know something you don't. That's exactly how we want it. Our goal isn't to have one person in the building who can solve the difficult problems. We want to build a shop full of people who can. Pay $25-$55 per hour depending on experience and capability. This is an hourly position—not flat rate. We intentionally advertise a broad range because we're willing to consider both an experienced A-level technician and a strong B-level technician with the ability and motivation to continue developing. If you're an experienced diagnostic technician operating at the upper end of the profession, we're not expecting you to work for B-tech wages. Schedule Monday through Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM 40 hours per week No weekends Work matters. So does having a life outside of it. Benefits Medical insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Paid time off Paid sick leave Professional development assistance Tuition reimbursement Paid/supportive technical training ASE certification support Tools & equipment Bring your professional hand tools. We'll invest in the equipment you need to do the job. The shop provides the major equipment and specialty tooling, including lifts, alignment equipment, tire mounting and balancing equipment, machining equipment, professional scan tools, specialty tools, and access to professional service-information and diagnostic resources. You shouldn't have to personally buy every specialized tool required to properly diagnose and repair the vehicles coming through your bay. One last thing We're not looking for somebody just to fill an empty bay. We're trying to build a team. Circle & Square has been here for 48 years, and we're proud of what this shop has meant to the community. We're also excited about what it can become over the next several years. If you like working on cars, enjoy solving difficult problems, want to keep developing your skills, and want to work alongside people who are willing to help each other succeed, we'd genuinely like to meet you. You don't need to know everything. You do need to care about getting better. How to apply Apply through Indeed or feel free to contact us directly and tell us a little about yourself, the kind of work you enjoy, and where you'd like to take your career next.
