Overview We are seeking a motivated Semi Trailer Yard Attendant / General Maintenance person to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to ensure the cleanliness, safety, shuttling trailers into and out of dock doors and completing general maintenance on the trucks and the building facility. If you enjoy working outdoors, performing maintenance tasks, and contributing to a well-organized environment, this position is perfect for you! Duties Maintain and repair Capital City Fruit, Inc. (CCF), trucks Make minor adjustments to brakes, lights, check trucks post-trip, etc. R & R Check and log tire pressures on equipment. Replace/repair starters; alternators; brakes; air lines; cross member hinges, doors; tires; seal; hubs; bearings and the truck [diesel] systems Maintain and repair CCF trailers Change oil in refer units, check trailers post-trip Make minor adjustments to brakes, lights, etc. Repairs refer units (must not access refrigerant side of condensing unit until receiving proper EPA certification) Truck and Trailer setup Backing in requested trailers as needed. Matching correct trucks to correct trailers as requested. Pulling trailers out to the line as needed. Pulling trailers out and closing the doors and leaving it in the door. CDL-A Responsibilities Must maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A) and operate company trucks in compliance with all DOT, state, and federal regulations. Transport company trucks, tractors, trailers, and equipment to and from off-site service vendors, repair facilities, inspection stations, and other designated locations as required. Relocate and deliver trailers between Capital City Fruit locations, customer sites, vendor locations, and other approved destinations. Safely move, position, and drop trailers at designated locations while ensuring proper documentation and communication with affected personnel. Respond to vehicle breakdown situations by driving replacement equipment to stranded drivers and assisting with truck and trailer changeouts as necessary to maintain uninterrupted service. Perform emergency product deliveries or route coverage when operational needs require additional driver support or when a scheduled driver is unavailable. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on company vehicles and trailers prior to operating equipment on public roadways. Complete all required DOT logs, vehicle inspection reports, and transportation-related documentation accurately and timely. Report all vehicle defects, safety concerns, accidents, and regulatory compliance issues to the Facilities Manager immediately. Maintain a professional appearance and represent Capital City Fruit in a positive manner when interacting with customers, vendors, service providers, and the public. Maintain and repair compressor units for coolers Make minor repairs to air conditioner and furnace as directed Conduct general maintenance of the physical plant Report on all safety deficiencies to the Facilities Manager Identify and repair all safety deficiencies in the warehouse and trucks Operate forklifts (following proper training) Operate electric and manual hand jacks (following proper training) Monitor temperature control of facility Assist Facilities Manager with food safety compliance Maintain production machinery and emergency equipment according to established schedules Maintain and repair slightly damaged pallets with air nail gun (following proper training) Skills/Education High School Education/GED and continuing education with related certifications 2 years' experience performing advanced mechanical maintenance and repairs 3 years of proven medium to heavy duty vehicle repair [PM's, tire & wheel, air & hydraulic brakes computerized diagnostics, electrical - diesel truck experience is a MUST Must have a valid driver's license ( CDL A or ability to obtain one) so vehicle service can be verified by conducting test drives Certification in tire & wheel; brakes; AC preferred Must possess basic knowledge of electrical and refrigeration systems Experience troubleshooting to find solutions and root issues Must work in a safe manner and comply with all state and federal regulations Knowledge and ability to operate machinery and equipment in accordance with safety procedures Experience documenting work on computer tracking programs Knowledge and ability to implement all safety procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures Ability to move trucks and trailers around the yard efficiently and safely as needed. Assist in maintaining vehicle appearance Ability to work daily and overtime as required Ability to interpret and work from oral and written instructions Ability to move throughout the warehouse, including continuous physical effort Ability to perform basic math calculations Ability to work in extreme temperatures (both hot and cold) Assist in other areas as required Must be able to follow maintenance schedules for production machinery and emergency equipment Physical ability for heavy lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and performing manual tasks reliably.
Pay:
$22.00 - $23.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
