$32.50 Job Description This role supports the Operations Maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, and automated packaging and distribution equipment in a high-volume distribution center. You will troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventive and predictive maintenance, and help ensure that robotics and material handling systems operate safely and reliably. In addition to hands-on technical work, you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and may mentor junior technicians as they develop their skills. Responsibilities Promote a safe working environment by consistently following all safety procedures and demonstrating safe work practices. Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance routines on material handling equipment and automated systems, ensuring all work is properly documented. Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment, including robotics, conveyors, and related systems. Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to all Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and other components. Diagnose and resolve issues in MHE systems using electrical schematics, blueprints, and knowledge of electrical and electronic principles. Support building operations by troubleshooting basic input and output functions and addressing equipment faults in a timely manner. Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to record work orders, track maintenance activities, and manage asset history, when applicable. Track, manage, and store department inventory, ensuring parts and tools are available and organized for maintenance tasks. Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship across the operations facility, partnering with operations and reliability teams to minimize downtime. Mentor and support junior technicians by sharing technical knowledge, demonstrating best practices, and reinforcing safety and quality standards. Adhere to MHE safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines and internal safety requirements. Participate in continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring issues, suggesting process improvements, and helping implement corrective actions. Move items weighing up to 49 pounds and stand and walk for shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays, to support 24/7 operations as needed. Essential Skills High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays. At least 1 year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications. At least 2 years of experience conducting quality predictive and preventive maintenance procedures. At least 2 years of experience in the repair of material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls. At least 2 years of experience reading blueprints and electrical schematics. At least 2 years of knowledge and practical application of electrical and electronic principles. At least 2 years of experience following and demonstrating safety standards in an industrial or maintenance environment. At least 1 year of experience troubleshooting and diagnosing MHE systems. Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, industrial maintenance, and repair activities. Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical systems, including 3-phase power. Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial setting. Ability to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on complex machinery and equipment. Capability to move up to 49 pounds and to stand and walk for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions of building operations systems. Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on reliability and efficiency. Strong willingness to learn and grow within a reliability, maintenance, and engineering environment. Experience with MHE safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and internal safety requirements. Associate or higher degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in Mechanical or Electrical fields. At least 2 years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Electrical field. At least 2 years of experience working with PLC-based control systems. Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in a production or distribution environment. Strong troubleshooting, diagnostics, and problem-solving skills in both mechanical and electrical domains. Work Environment The role is based in a high-volume distribution center that operates at scale to process and ship tens of thousands of products daily. You will work around robotics, automated packaging systems, conveyors, and a wide range of material handling equipment, using tools and technologies associated with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring you to be on your feet for most of your shift, standing and walking for up to 12 hours and handling items up to 49 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work schedules can include nights, weekends, and holidays to support round-the-clock operations, and you must be able to work any required shift. Safety is a core focus, with lightweight fire-resistant daily wear and composite toe safety shoes provided as part of the expected attire, and strict adherence to safety procedures and equipment standards throughout the facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Canton, MS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
