Maintenance Technician Monday - Friday 8:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M.

JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician repairs, maintains, modifies or constructs equipment such as motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor-production systems, and production machines and equipment intended for the use in the manufacturing of parts. This employee will do production run set ups. The Maintenance Technician will also keep the building in a clean and orderly condition by assisting with various housekeeping duties. This employee also will be required to do any and all other tasks deemed necessary by his/her supervisor for the safe and efficient operation of the company.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires the following minimum qualifications:

EDUCATION

High School Graduate/GED

LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION

Driver's License.

EXPERIENCE

Preferred experience in manufacturing or industry maintenance.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES

Must have the following: Knowledge of cleaning skills, cleaning products and chemicals Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively to the extent required by the position. Ability to effectively and cooperatively work with other people both in and outside the company. Ability to read and understand mechanical and engineering drawings. Knowledgeable in electrical wiring and switches. Ability to use hand tools safely and correctly. Ability to operate production fabrication machinery safely and correctly. Ability to accurately produce fabricated products, using either hand tools, saws, shears, mills, lathes, drills, benders, sanders, grinders, etc. Rudimentary knowledge of electronic hardware related to the operation of fabrication machinery.

MECHANICAL SKILLS

Required - Experience with metal working hand tools and production machinery. Mechanical skills are needed. Ability to operate equipment necessary for cleaning and complete other tasks set forth herein.

Required - normal special orientation.

ESSENTIAL AUTHORITY, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND DUTIES AUTHORITIES

The position of Maintenance Technician includes all authority necessary to direct or perform all activities which are within the Maintenance Technician's defined span of control, and which are necessary for the organization to maintain its production fabrication machinery and environment. All such activities are to be carried out within the bound of established policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

The following is a general description of the principal duties required to accomplish the responsibilities of the

Maintenance Technician:

Maintains, organize and cleans all tools, equipment and work area, on a regular basis. Maintains a safe working environment. Operates all machinery and tools assigned within the safety guidelines established by the company and standard safe work practices. Uses and maintains all safety equipment requested and/or required. Participate in any occupational training requested by the Research & Development Department (Process Engineering). Conducts non-routine maintenance required by established machinery shutdown procedures. Keeps accurate account of time and production using available software or other methods assigned by the company. Repairs, maintains, and installs machines, tools, and equipment. Schedules all maintenance, repairs and installations in a manner that ensures continuous production operations. Becomes familiar with our products to understand the different operations Maintenance Technicians are assigned to and how they relate to the overall mechanics of Powr-Grip products. Provide assistance as may be necessary with regard to production of company products. Works within engineering specifications with respect to tolerances, and wiring diagram locations. Performs any housekeeping, janitorial, grounds-keeping or outside maintenance duties as assigned by supervisor. Participate in internal auditing and other company functions as requested by the Maintenance Supervisor or other management. Provide assistance to the Maintenance Supervisor with general functions such as maintaining necessary paperwork and working with outside contractors. Provide assistance to the Maintenance Supervisor with various building and remodeling functions including but not limited to taping, texturing, staining, painting, door installation and miscellaneous repairs. Maintain a working knowledge of and provide assistance to the Building Maintenance Supervisor with regard to operation, maintenance and/or repair of the following: The heating and cooling system including the furnace, central air conditioning units, and swamp cooler. The interior fire sprinkler system. The exterior yard sprinkling system. The various wiring receptacles, boxes and outlets (480/277V - 3-phase, 208/120V). Water lines. Tools used by and kept in the Building Maintenance Department. Initiate paperwork, in accordance with the appropriate quality procedure, for any corrective action that is required. Demonstrate consistently good attendance and reliability. Exercise effective planning and time utilization, using all available work time in a manner which will benefit the organization and contribute to the smooth operation of the business. Exercise sound judgment and decision making (a reasonable approach). Good judgment/decision making shall be construed to mean: evaluating the seriousness of a problem and the amount of time required to correct the problem. Such judgment/decision making shall also include the ability to determine when problems require being brought to the attention of others. Demonstrate initiative by performing duties which need to be performed, although not directly assigned, which fall within the overall scope of this position's authority. WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

In general the working conditions are as follows: Production floor environments. Frequent exposure to noise, heat, fumes, and dust, and hazardous chemicals. Normal full-time working hours for your position will be specifically assigned by your supervisor but generally are either 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday; 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday; or 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday.

Each such shift normally has:

One (1) hour off for lunch.

Afternoon Break:

Must demonstrate good hand/eye coordination and demonstrate good manual dexterity. Must be able to stand throughout the shifts identified above.
