The property includes a residence, barn, workshop, agricultural areas, and other structures. Initially, the position will focus heavily on property improvements, repairs, and deferred-maintenance projects. Over time, the role will transition into ongoing property and facilities maintenance. We are looking for someone with broad practical skills who enjoys working independently, solving problems, and seeing tangible progress from day to day. This is not a position where a supervisor will assign one small task at a time. The right person should be comfortable receiving a project or punch list, assessing what needs to be done, determining the necessary materials and tools, and completing projects carefully and efficiently. Duties Carpentry, cabinetry modifications, trim, shelving, doors, hardware, flooring installation and repair, and other interior improvements Drywall repair, patching, painting, caulking, basic tile/grout work, and general finish repairs Basic plumbing repairs, appliance installation, and minor electrical repair experience Fence, gate, deck, barn, workshop, and outbuilding repairs and improvements Pressure washing, gutter cleaning, seasonal maintenance, and general exterior upkeep Troubleshooting leaks, minor damage, wear-and-tear issues, and other routine property problems Planning smaller projects, estimating materials, and completing work independently from start to finish Proactively identifying maintenance needs and coordinating licensed trades when specialized work is required The work will vary considerably from week to week. We are looking for someone who enjoys variety and is comfortable moving between different types of projects. Skills Strong candidates may come from backgrounds such as: Residential remodeling Construction Facilities or building maintenance Estate or large-property maintenance Finish carpentry Skilled handyman or property-improvement work You do not need to be an expert in every trade. We value someone who is highly competent in several areas, learns quickly, exercises good judgment, and knows when a project should be handled by a specialist.
Qualifications Required:
At least 3 years of relevant maintenance, construction, remodeling, or similar hands-on experience Strong general repair and carpentry skills Ability to work independently without constant supervision Ability to troubleshoot problems and develop practical solutions Comfortable using common hand and power tools Ability to safely lift and move typical building materials Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Reliable attendance and communication Strong attention to detail Ability to maintain an organized and clean work area
Preferred:
Finish carpentry or cabinetry experience Residential remodeling experience Plumbing repair experience Basic electrical repair experience Drywall and painting experience Flooring installation or repair experience Experience repairing fences, gates, decks, barns, or outbuildings Experience maintaining a larger residential, agricultural, or commercial property Experience operating tractors, trailers, or other property equipment Ability to estimate materials and plan smaller projects independently Schedule Approximately 30-40 hours per week initially, with significant project work during the property-improvement phase. There may be some scheduling flexibility for the right candidate. The position has the potential to develop into a long-term property and facilities maintenance role as we expand. Compensation $26-$35/hour, depending on experience Compensation will depend on demonstrated skill, versatility, independence, and relevant experience.
