Position Summary The Maintenance Painter prepares, paints, and maintains interior and exterior surfaces across all school district facilities. This role ensures educational buildings, administrative offices, and athletic spaces remain safe, clean, and visually appealing while operating safely in a active K-12 environment.
Key Responsibilities Surface Preparation:
Patch drywall, strip old paint, sand surfaces, clean walls, and repair masonry or woodwork prior to painting.
Application:
Apply paints, stains, primers, sealers, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, and power sprayers.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow OSHA and safety protocols, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials (paints, solvents, lead/asbestos safety standards).
Equipment & Inventory Maintenance:
Clean and maintain tools, spray rigs, scaffolding, and ladders; track paint stock and supply inventory.
Specialized Projects:
Paint parking lot lines, sports court markings, window frames, doors, and exterior trim during scheduled breaks or after hours to minimize disruption to instructional time. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum 2-3 years of commercial, residential, or institutional painting experience. Valid driver's license (for traveling between district campuses). Physical ability to climb ladders/scaffolding, lift up to 50 lbs, and stand for extended periods. Clear state/federal background check and child safety clearance.
