SUPERVISION

General supervision is provided by the Chief Operations and Technical Officer.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following is a summary of essential functions and duties required for the position of Facilities Mechanic II perform the essential functions of this position in accordance with the district's accommodations policy set forth in the Employee Handbook, Section 103. The district reserves the right to modify the essential functions and duties for this position in accordance with its business needs. Organizes equipment repairs including installation, renovation, and repair of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Makes frequent inspections of all HVAC systems and equipment to ensure proper operation. Maintains a preventive maintenance program to include lubricating HVAC components, replacing air filters, cleaning and dusting coils, fans, motors, condensers, and evaporators. Troubleshoots and repairs/replaces low voltage (480/277) to (120/208 - 240) electrical systems to include light fixtures, switches, outlets, fuses, breakers, and outside lighting. Operates and maintains a variety of equipment, hand tools and power tools. Ensures equipment is in operating condition by inspecting prior to and after each use. Complies with all safety standards. Interprets and analyzes technical data information including reading blueprints and as built drawings. Paints interior/exteriors of all LVWD facilities. Performs concrete and carpentry work. Installs drywall, ceilings, and baseboards. Utilizes various cleaning, disinfecting and waxing chemicals and compounds. Removes, installs, and repairs flooring, ceiling tiles, furniture, cubicles, doors, door frames, fixtures, carpentry, locks, hardware, changes light bulbs, light fixtures, assembles and disassembles office cubicles, furniture, hangs fixtures and assist LVWD departments as directed. Installs, repairs, and maintains plumbing equipment, including irrigation systems. Repairs leaks and clears stoppage in sinks and toilets. Responsible for set-up of special events including setting up and taking down tables, chairs, and decorations. Maintains effective workings relationships with the public and fellow employees. Maintains safe work practices according to LVWD rules and policies. Performs any other duties as assigned by the Chief Operations and Technical Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS

Facilities Maintenance Mechanic Education/Training:

High School Diploma or equivalent GED, Bilingual Preferred (English and Spanish).

Experience:

2 years' experience in the building trades or grounds and building maintenance, HVAC and electrical.

License or Certificate:

• Texas Class "C" Driver's License and must have an acceptable driving record.
• Forklift certification a plus.
• EPA Universal Certification or Certificate of Completion in Electrical Technology.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of accident prevention principles, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of hazardous chemicals, waste products and Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to prepare and present daily documentation logs and reports. Ability to interpret safety and liability regulations and standards. Ability to deal professionally, tactfully, and courteously with the public and other employees, work in situations with hostile customers. Ability to perform safe operation and care of motor vehicles or assigned District owned equipment. Ability to be customer service oriented.

Environment:

This position functions in bothindoor and outdoor environments due to the nature of the district's business and various work locations. Travel from site to site will be required. May be exposed to noise, dust, and inclement weather conditions.

Physical:

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a professional office andfield environment; to stand, stoop, reach, bend, kneel, squat, climb ladders, and walk on uneven terrain, loose soil, and sloped surfaces; to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs.; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; ability to operate a vehicle to travel to various locations; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision :

Must be able tosee in the normal visual range, with or without corrective devices. Must be able to read.

Hearing:

Must be abletohear in the normal audio range, with or without corrective devices.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.

Personal Protective Equipment Required :

Safety equipment includes hard hat, traffic vest, ear plugs, eye protection and safety shoes which will be provided by Lower Valley Water District.
