Job Description

Job Overview Aqua Builders is building out its Pool Service Division — the team responsible for the transition each client makes from construction completion into ongoing pool care, and for growing the relationships that continue long after a project turns over. The Service Manager & Lead Technician is a hands-on leadership role at the center of that build-out: part technician, part manager. This person runs the day-to-day service operation — routing, water chemistry, equipment repair, and client care — while also setting the standards, training, and systems that let the division scale as the firm's service base grows. This is a working leadership role. The right person is comfortable troubleshooting an equipment pad on a pool deck in the morning and reviewing service schedules or training a technician in the afternoon. Responsibilities Build and manage the service schedule for the division's technicians, balancing routine maintenance routes with repair and service calls Own the client experience for the service department, including the one-month complimentary post-turnover service period and the transition to monthly maintenance agreements Set and enforce service standards: water chemistry benchmarks, equipment inspection checklists, visit documentation Hire, train, and mentor service technicians as the department grows Track service department performance — client retention, response times, recurring issues — and report on it to firm leadership Manage service department vendor relationships and parts/equipment purchasing Handle escalated client issues and service-related change requests, in line with the firm's approach of flagging cost or scope impacts before acting Identify opportunities to introduce additional offerings (outdoor furniture, wellness elements) to existing service clients, in coordination with sales Perform hands-on pool service work: water testing and balancing, filter and equipment maintenance, pump and heater troubleshooting and repair, seasonal start-up/shutdown Diagnose and repair pool equipment — pumps, filters, heaters, automation systems, lighting, and water features Serve as the technical point of reference for the rest of the service team; field the calls other technicians can't resolve Lead by example on service visits — set the pace and quality bar new technicians are trained against Maintain service vehicles, tools, and equipment inventory Flag equipment or workmanship issues traceable back to the construction phase and route them to the appropriate Construction/Project Manager Keep accurate, timely visit records and chemical/equipment logs for each client account Qualifications Several years of hands-on pool service/repair experience Prior experience leading, scheduling, or training a small team, or clear readiness to step into that responsibility Working knowledge of water chemistry, filtration, pumps, heaters, and pool automation systems Comfortable using field-service tools and basic office software for scheduling and record-keeping, ideally proficient in Skimmer software Strong client-facing communication — calm, plain-spoken, and diplomatic, especially when explaining a repair, a delay, or a cost Valid driver's license; able to travel within the firm's Austin-area service territory Relevant certifications (e.g., CPO) a plus, not required Join us as a Pool Service Division Manager where your leadership transforms everyday operations into outstanding service experiences!
