Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Day Shift Maintenance Mechanic Trainee to support reliable, safe operation of our manufacturing plant. In this entry-level role, you'll assist with inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on conveyors, motors, and other production equipment while learning from experienced mechanics. You'll perform preventive maintenance, follow work orders, and document tasks in a safety-first, collaborative environment. This is a hands-on opportunity to develop strong mechanical, troubleshooting, and safety skills while contributing to essential infrastructure projects. Responsibilities Assist with inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing plant machinery during day shift operations Support preventive maintenance on mechanical systems, conveyors, motors, and production equipment Follow detailed work orders and maintenance procedures under guidance of senior mechanics Use basic hand and power tools safely to replace parts and perform adjustments Monitor equipment performance and report issues to maintenance lead or supervisor Document maintenance activities, parts used, and findings in maintenance logs or CMMSAdhere to all safety, lockout/tagout, and environmental regulations and company policies Participate in ongoing training to build mechanical, troubleshooting, and safety skills Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and support efficient operations Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with 5 S and housekeeping standards Required Skills Mechanical troubleshooting Preventive maintenance Industrial equipment repair support Use of hand and power tools Reading technical instructions and work orders Basic understanding of hydraulics/pneumatics Lockout/Tagout safety procedures Maintenance documentation/CMMS data entry Basic welding or fabrication exposure Equipment inspection
