Lead Network Cabling Technician

Job Description

Lead Network Cabling Technician to oversee and perform the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of structured cabling systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to manage projects while mentoring installation teams. This position requires a motivated professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality work, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Lead crews on commercial and government structured cabling projects. Install, terminate, label, and test Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic, and coaxial cabling. Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and network drawings. Install cable pathways including conduit, cable tray, J-hooks, ladder rack, and raceways. Install telecommunications rooms, racks, cabinets, patch panels, and network equipment. Perform copper and fiber certification testing using industry-standard test equipment. Troubleshoot network cabling and connectivity issues. Maintain accurate project documentation, test reports, and as-built drawings. Coordinate daily work with project managers, customers, and subcontractors. Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within quality standards. Train and mentor junior technicians. Maintain company tools, vehicles, and equipment. Qualifications Required Minimum 5 years of structured cabling experience. Previous experience leading installation crews. Strong knowledge of TIA/EIA standards and structured cabling best practices.
Experience installing and terminating:
Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A Single-mode and multi-mode fiber Patch panels Network racks and cabinets Experience using Fluke cable certification testers and fiber testing equipment. Ability to read construction drawings and specifications. Strong troubleshooting skills. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders and lifts. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Preferred BICSI Installer or Technician certification. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Fiber optic certifications. Experience working on federal, military, or Department of Defense projects. Experience with access control, CCTV, or wireless installations.

$25.00 - $32.00 per hour Application Question(s): Must have reliable transportation and basic tools for the job.
