This position is ideal for a technician who already has hands-on experience troubleshooting and servicing access control, video surveillance, gate operators, intercoms, networking, A/V, and other low-voltage systems . You will be responsible for responding to service calls, diagnosing problems, repairing equipment, and restoring systems to proper operation. The ability to troubleshoot independently, use test equipment, and identify the root cause of a problem is essential. If you enjoy troubleshooting, working with technology, and solving problems in the field, this is an opportunity to grow with a company that works with a wide range of security and low-voltage systems. What You'll Do Troubleshoot and repair access control, CCTV/video surveillance, gate operators, intercoms, A/V, and other low-voltage systems. Diagnose power, wiring, communication, networking, hardware, and configuration problems . Use a digital multimeter/voltmeter to measure voltage, continuity, resistance, and troubleshoot low-voltage circuits. Use network and cable testers to diagnose Ethernet and communication problems. Troubleshoot IP cameras, NVRs, PoE switches, controllers, readers, and other network-connected devices. Diagnose access control issues involving controllers, readers, locks, REX devices, door contacts, power supplies, and relay outputs. Troubleshoot gate operator and access-control equipment. Replace and configure failed equipment and components. Perform system upgrades, retrofits, and preventative maintenance. Configure devices, firmware, software, IP addresses, and other system settings as required. Read wiring diagrams, schematics, installation documentation, and equipment manuals. Communicate with customers and property managers to understand problems and explain completed repairs. Complete accurate service reports, document findings, and communicate parts or follow-up requirements. Maintain a professional appearance and represent Geeksys Security Solutions positively at customer locations. Work independently while knowing when to escalate more complex issues to management or senior technical staff. What We're Looking For 1+ year of hands-on experience in low-voltage, electronic security, electrical, telecommunications, networking, IT, or a related technical field. Previous experience troubleshooting access control, CCTV, gate operators, or similar systems is strongly preferred . Comfortable using a digital multimeter/voltmeter for troubleshooting. Familiarity with network testers and Ethernet cabling . Basic understanding of
TCP/IP, IP
addresses, subnetting, PoE, switches, and network-connected devices . Ability to troubleshoot problems logically rather than simply replacing components. Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical documentation. Comfortable learning equipment from different manufacturers and technology platforms. Able to work independently and manage service calls with limited supervision. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Good communication and customer-service skills. Professional, dependable, and safety-conscious. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to travel throughout Central Florida, including Orlando, Tampa, Daytona Beach, and surrounding areas. Ability to work indoors and outdoors, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs. Technical Skills That Will Set You Apart Experience with any of the following is a plus: Access control systems IP video surveillance NVRs and VMS platforms PoE switches TCP/IP networking Ethernet cabling and testing Electric strikes and magnetic locks Door controllers and card readers Intercom systems Gate operators Vehicle gates Telephone/intercom entry systems A/V systems Structured cabling Alarm/security systems Windows and basic IT troubleshooting Experience with specific manufacturers is helpful, but the ability to troubleshoot and learn new systems is more important than knowing one particular brand.
