2988837504-2 Apply for this job now Job Description GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Class A Fleet Mechanic to keep our waste and recycling fleet safe, reliable, and road-ready. In this role, you will perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on Class A trucks and related equipment, including diesel engines, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical systems. You will complete DOT inspections, maintain accurate service records, and support a safety-first culture. Working in a fast-paced, essential services environment, you'll collaborate with operations teams and have opportunities for training, certifications, and long-term career growth. Responsibilities Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on Class A trucks and fleet equipment Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air brakes, and electrical components Conduct DOT-compliant inspections and ensure all vehicles meet safety and regulatory standards Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and parts usage in fleet systems Respond to road calls and perform field repairs as needed to minimize downtime Collaborate with operations teams to prioritize repairs and support daily route readiness Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations in the shop Assist with training junior technicians and support continuous improvement of maintenance processes Required Skills Diesel engine diagnostics and repair Hydraulic system maintenance Air brake system troubleshooting Preventive maintenance programs Welding and fabrication Electrical system diagnostics Use of diagnostic software and tools DOT and safety compliance knowledge Reading technical manuals and schematics Recordkeeping and maintenance documentation
