Job Description

Reports to:

VP-Motive Power Job Overview:

The Locomotive Mechanic will work within the Mechanical department to address and execute maintenance, troubleshooting and general repair to RBMN's locomotive fleet.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Mechanical/Electrical repairs to locomotive fleet.
Regularly able to work at two separate locomotive shops to include Port Clinton and Nesquehoning to repair locomotes as needed.
Assist and report to anywhere across the Reading and Northern system as needed.
Ability to be on-call for locomotive related emergencies on evenings and weekends.
Flexibility to work weekends as needed.
Maintain, troubleshoot and assess locomotive repair and inspection needs.
Understand and get qualified under railroad specific rules and regulations.
Address and handle urgent and time sensitive repairs to locomotive fleet.
Other duties and projects as assigned and required.
Education and/or experience in diesel engine repair/maintenance.
Superior organizational and communication skills.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
Finger dexterity, manage multiple tasks/projects, close attention to detail and adapt to a fast pace and ever-changing work environment.
Valid Driver's License.
Operational vehicle to commute to/from work.
Positive attitude.
Ability to work in various locations on various shifts from day-to-day to include some weekend work.
Ability to sit, stand, kneel, climb and/or bend for long periods of time.
Willingness to be on-call when and where necessary.
Ability to adapt to an ever-changing workload.
Ability to successfully complete FRA mandated background check and pre-employment drug screening.
