Job Description
Reports to:
VP-Motive Power Job Overview:
The Locomotive Mechanic will work within the Mechanical department to address and execute maintenance, troubleshooting and general repair to RBMN's locomotive fleet.Responsibilities and Duties:
- Mechanical/Electrical repairs to locomotive fleet.
- Regularly able to work at two separate locomotive shops to include Port Clinton and Nesquehoning to repair locomotes as needed.
- Assist and report to anywhere across the Reading and Northern system as needed.
- Ability to be on-call for locomotive related emergencies on evenings and weekends.
- Flexibility to work weekends as needed.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and assess locomotive repair and inspection needs.
- Understand and get qualified under railroad specific rules and regulations.
- Address and handle urgent and time sensitive repairs to locomotive fleet.
- Other duties and projects as assigned and required.
- Education and/or experience in diesel engine repair/maintenance.
- Superior organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Finger dexterity, manage multiple tasks/projects, close attention to detail and adapt to a fast pace and ever-changing work environment.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Operational vehicle to commute to/from work.
- Positive attitude.
- Ability to work in various locations on various shifts from day-to-day to include some weekend work.
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel, climb and/or bend for long periods of time.
- Willingness to be on-call when and where necessary.
- Ability to adapt to an ever-changing workload.
- Ability to successfully complete FRA mandated background check and pre-employment drug screening.
