Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspension, and electrical systems using schematics and diagnostic tools. Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and tractor-trailers. Fabricate parts or modify components as needed using welding, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to ensure proper fit and function. Inspect vehicles and equipment for wear and damage; perform alignments, shocks & struts replacement, tire service, and brake repairs to maintain safety standards. Maintain detailed service records, complete repair reports accurately, and follow manufacturer specifications for vehicle systems repair. Assist with equipment assembly, preventive maintenance routines, and troubleshooting electrical or hydraulic issues to maximize uptime. Support customer service efforts by communicating repair findings clearly and providing expert advice on vehicle maintenance needs. Requirements Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic with dealership experience preferred; strong background in heavy truck repair is essential. Proficiency in automotive diagnostics, schematics reading, electrical system repair, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and engine overhaul procedures. Ability to operate heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial machinery safely and efficiently. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and other mechanical repair tools. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures including transmissions, suspension systems (shocks & struts), air brakes (including air brake certification), tire service, and alignment techniques. Mechanical knowledge of farm machinery and industrial equipment is highly desirable. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to perform heavy lifting safely; strong customer service orientation is a plus. Valid certifications in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment operation; ASE certification or equivalent is preferred.
