UPFITTER TECHNICIAN — LEVEL C Junior Upfitter Technician

Job Description

The Level C Technician is the foundation of our build team. This is an entry-level, hands-on role for individuals eager to learn the emergency vehicle upfitting trade. You will work directly alongside senior technicians, developing the skills and habits that define a career-grade EVT. No prior upfitting experience required — the right attitude and work ethic matter most. Reports to Senior / Lead Upfitter Technician FLSA status Non-exempt / Hourly (OT eligible) / Commission Pay range $18
  • $22 per / hour Inclusive of base pay + commission per install Certifications None required at hire — EVT/ASE training provided and encouraged Schedule Mon

Able to lift 50 lbs.; prolonged standing/kneeling; work in and around vehicles
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist senior technicians with vehicle prep, teardown, and basic installation tasks Install standard emergency lighting (light bars, grille lights, rear deck lights) under supervision Pull wire harnesses, route cables, and secure wiring per build sheets and diagrams Remove and reinstall OEM interior trim panels to facilitate equipment installation Drill, mount, and fasten hardware using hand and power tools Perform basic quality checks on completed installations — confirm power, fit, and finish Maintain a clean, organized work bay and tool inventory Document completed work steps on build sheets accurately and on time Follow all shop safety protocols including PPE and vehicle protection standards
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED required Basic understanding of 12-volt electrical systems preferred but not required Comfort using hand tools: drills, screwdrivers, crimpers, wire strippers Ability to read and follow written work instructions and wiring diagrams with guidance Reliable, punctual, and able to follow direction in a fast-paced shop environment Valid driver's license required Background in fire service, EMS, or law enforcement is a plus — you understand the mission
GROWTH PATH EVT
Level 1 certification support and paid testing fees within first 12 months On-the-job training alongside Level A and B technicians Promotion to Level B Technician upon demonstrated competency and EVT certification

$18.00
