Full-Time Water Damage Specialist Position Overview Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking an experienced Water Damage Specialist - Intermediate to lead residential and small commercial water damage projects while providing hands-on support for larger and more complex restoration projects. The Water Damage Specialist will be responsible for leading small crews, performing water extraction and structural drying, documenting losses, determining the extent and distribution of moisture, and ensuring restoration work is completed according to industry standards. This is an intermediate-level restoration position requiring previous water damage experience, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to lead field teams. Water Damage Specialist Responsibilities Lead water damage restoration teams handling residential and small commercial losses. Supervise and perform water damage restoration tasks in the field. Receive and execute instructions from the Supervisor. Direct team members in the proper selection and use of PPE. Review daily project requirements and document project progress. Communicate project progress, challenges, and concerns to management. Complete required field documentation, photographs, charts, sketches, and project records. Create and maintain accurate moisture maps and drying documentation. Perform daily vehicle safety and maintenance inspections and maintain vehicles in clean, safe operating condition. Properly identify affected and unaffected building materials and contents. Determine the extent, dimensions, and distribution of moisture within affected structures. Evaluate the integrity of structural materials and contents following direct and indirect water damage. Assess whether affected materials should be restored or replaced based on project conditions. Perform water extraction, drying, and restoration procedures. Perform debris removal, containment, and drying chamber setup. Perform wall cavity drying and utilize appropriate drying techniques. Operate pump systems and water extraction equipment. Perform carpet seam cutting and cushion removal. Remove baseboards and perform other necessary demolition/restoration tasks. Properly identify Class 4 materials and determine the most effective drying/restoration approach. Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and properly care for water extraction and drying equipment. Supervise small crews of up to 10 employees on residential, commercial, and industrial losses. Assist in the development and training of entry-level Water Damage Technicians. Assist advanced technicians with complex or large-scale restoration projects. Manage multiple water damage losses when working in catastrophe response situations. Organize and coordinate temporary workers when required. Maintain a strong focus on customer service and professional communication. Work efficiently under time constraints and meet project deadlines. Accurately report hours worked and equipment and consumables used. Participate in required safety training and company-sponsored operations. Travel periodically and work nights and weekends when project demands require. Perform additional duties as assigned. Water Damage Specialist Required Qualifications At least 12 months of previous water damage experience at the basic technician level, or equivalent industry experience. Direct participation in at least 25 water damage restoration projects. Working knowledge of the

designation. Familiarity with established water damage restoration procedures and documentation. Demonstrated ability to properly use moisture meters and infrared cameras. Ability to distinguish affected versus unaffected building materials and contents. Ability to create sketches and read floor plans. Ability to complete Moisture Content Logs and Psychrometric Logs. Ability to establish appropriate drying goals. Understanding of air mover calculations and LGR dehumidification requirements. Understanding of electrical power specifications and circuits used during drying operations. Demonstrated proficiency using moisture detection and environmental monitoring equipment. Experience with truck-mounted extraction systems, including maintenance and troubleshooting. Demonstrated experience supervising small crews of up to 10 people. Experience working on residential, commercial, and/or industrial water damage losses. Eligible to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with company vehicle requirements. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor. Sense of urgency and ability to work effectively under deadlines. Positive attitude and strong work ethic. English language literacy and fluency. Water Damage Specialist Technical Skills The successful candidate should be comfortable operating and documenting information from equipment such as: HydroSensor or equivalent moisture detection equipment Thermal hygrometer NavPro moisture meter or equivalent Infrared (IR) camera Truck-mounted extraction systems Portable extraction and drying equipment Air movers LGR dehumidifiers Pump systems Physical Requirements This position is physically demanding and requires the ability to: Frequently lift more than 50 lbs. Occasionally lift 41+ lbs. with assistance. Work and maneuver in tight or confined spaces. Stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, and work on your feet for extended periods. Use mobile devices to collect project, equipment, and timekeeping data. Perform hands-on restoration and water damage mitigation activities for extended periods.
