This is a hands-on, travel-intensive position for a technically minded problem solver who is comfortable working with complex industrial machinery. Previous fiber laser service experience is strongly preferred , particularly experience troubleshooting laser cutting systems in a production environment. We are also willing to train the right candidate. Candidates with backgrounds in industrial maintenance, CNC machine service, electrical/controls, automation, military maintenance, or heavy equipment repair are encouraged to apply. Strong mechanical aptitude, technical curiosity, and a strong work ethic are required. The ideal candidate is a customer-first problem solver who can diagnose issues in the field, communicate effectively with customers, and take ownership of getting equipment back into production. What You'll Do As a Fiber Laser Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial fiber laser systems.
Responsibilities include:
Install, commission, and service industrial fiber laser cutting systems at customer facilities. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control-system issues. Troubleshoot CNC controls, servo systems, drives, motors, sensors, and machine communication systems. Diagnose and service fiber laser cutting heads and related laser components. Troubleshoot laser sources and associated systems. Diagnose and maintain chiller and cooling systems. Troubleshoot assist-gas delivery systems and pneumatic components. Service and troubleshoot automated material handling, loading, and unloading systems. Perform preventative maintenance and machine inspections. Identify the root cause of equipment failures and determine the appropriate corrective action. Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, technical documentation, and service manuals. Work with factory technical support and engineering teams to resolve complex equipment issues. Train customers on proper machine operation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting. Document service activities, machine issues, parts used, and completed repairs. Communicate clearly with customers regarding machine condition, repairs, and recommended maintenance. Represent Moore Machine Tools professionally at customer facilities. Travel nationwide to perform installations, service calls, troubleshooting, and customer support. Travel Expectations This is a nationwide traveling position based out of Utah .
The typical schedule is:
Approximately two weeks of Monday-Friday travel , followed by approximately one week working from the Utah office. During periods of increased demand, travel may extend to approximately three consecutive weeks . Weekend travel and work are uncommon but may occasionally be necessary due to customer requirements or installation schedules. When weekend work is required, technicians receive additional time off. All company-related travel expenses, including transportation, lodging, and other approved travel costs, are paid by Moore Machine Tools. Candidates should be comfortable spending significant time on the road and working independently at customer facilities across the United States. What We're Looking For Preferred Experience The ideal candidate will have previous experience servicing industrial fiber laser cutting systems . Experience with laser cutting equipment is highly valuable. Additional experience in any of the following areas is beneficial: Fiber laser machine service and troubleshooting CNC machine service Industrial automation Electrical and controls troubleshooting Servo and motion control systems Industrial maintenance Heavy equipment repair Military equipment maintenance Hydraulic and pneumatic systems Required Qualifications Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability. Strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership of problems. Ability to troubleshoot complex industrial equipment systematically. Comfortable working independently in customer manufacturing facilities. Ability to diagnose problems across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control systems. Electrical troubleshooting experience is strongly beneficial. Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States. Professional demeanor when interacting with customers. Willingness to continue learning new laser technologies, controls, and machine systems. Fiber laser service experience is strongly preferred. However, we will consider exceptional candidates from related technical fields who demonstrate the mechanical aptitude, electrical knowledge, troubleshooting ability, and work ethic required to become successful fiber laser technicians. Physical Requirements This is an active field service position.
Candidates must be able to:
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Stand for extended periods while servicing machinery. Bend, kneel, crawl, and work in various positions around industrial equipment. Climb ladders and access elevated machine components when required. Work safely around large industrial machinery and manufacturing environments. Travel extensively and work at customer facilities across the country.
