Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on, mechanically inclined Technical Service Representative to join our team. This position supports customers and internal operations through R&D spray application, equipment troubleshooting, repair and maintenance, product demonstrations, and technical field support. The ideal candidate is mechanically capable, comfortable working with industrial equipment, willing to travel, and able to work directly with customers in both production and demonstration environments. Experience with plural-component spray equipment, polyurethane, polyurea, fiberglass, foam, or industrial coatings is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn. Key Responsibilities
  • Apply and demonstrate a variety of spray-applied materials, including coatings, rigidizers, polyurethane foam, fiberglass, and related products.
  • Set up, operate, clean, and maintain plural-component proportioners, spray guns, pumps, hoses, and associated spray equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, heating, pressure, and material-delivery issues with spray equipment.
  • Repair, rebuild, and perform preventative maintenance on proportioners, pumps, spray guns, and other application equipment.
  • Conduct in-house spray trials and product demonstrations.
  • Travel to prospective and existing customer facilities to perform product demonstrations, equipment setup, troubleshooting, training, and technical support.
  • Assist customers with proper equipment operation, spray techniques, processing parameters, and general application issues.
  • Work with sales, technical, laboratory, and engineering personnel during customer trials and new product evaluations.
  • Maintain Technical Service equipment, tools, work areas, and spray facilities in a clean and organized condition.
  • Manage spare parts, consumables, tools, and equipment inventory, including monitoring stock levels and identifying items that need to be reordered.
  • Document service work, equipment issues, customer visits, trials, and recommendations as needed.
  • Follow all company and customer safety procedures, including proper handling of chemicals and use of required PPE.
  • Assist with equipment installations, startups, and operator training when required.
  • Perform other Technical Service duties and projects as needed. Qualifications
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability and willingness to learn the operation, maintenance, and repair of industrial spray and proportioning equipment.
  • Experience with industrial coatings, polyurethane/polyurea spray equipment, fiberglass, foam, composites, or similar applications is preferred.
  • Experience with Graco or similar plural-component proportioning and spray equipment is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems is preferred.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Basic computer literacy, including email, Microsoft Office, and the ability to complete service documentation.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems independently and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional and comfortable interacting directly with customers.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer locations as needed.
  • Ability to safely work around chemicals and industrial equipment while wearing appropriate PPE. Preferred Background Candidates with experience in any of the following industries or roles may be especially well suited for this position. Direct experience with polyurethane or plural-component equipment is not required if the candidate has strong transferable mechanical and application skills.
  • Industrial coatings or protective coatings application.
  • Spray polyurethane foam (SPF), polyurea, or plural-component spray applications.
  • Fiberglass, composites, FRP fabrication, or resin application.
  • Automotive paint, collision repair, body shop, or industrial spray-finishing work.
  • Industrial equipment maintenance, field service, or machinery repair.
  • Graco or similar spray equipment operation, service, or repair.
  • Pump, proportioner, fluid-handling, pneumatic, or hydraulic equipment service.
  • Manufacturing or production environments involving hands-on equipment setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Technical field service or customer-facing equipment support. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment, parts, hoses, and material containers as required.
  • Ability to work in industrial and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to wear respiratory protection and other required PPE when working with spray-applied materials.
  • Ability to perform hands-on mechanical work, including bending, kneeling, reaching, and working around machinery.
What We're Looking For This position is best suited for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving mechanical problems, and working on different projects rather than performing the same task every day. The role combines equipment service and repair with product application and direct customer support. We are looking for someone who is dependable, self-motivated, organized, and willing to learn. The right person should be comfortable taking ownership of a problem, working through it methodically, and communicating clearly with both coworkers and customers. Prior experience with our specific equipment or materials is not required if you have a strong mechanical background, a willingness to learn, and a good work ethic.
