Job Description
Dairy Installation & Service Technician Michigan Dairy Tech is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Dairy Installation & Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair dairy equipment and systems at dairy and livestock facilities. This position combines mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and welding skills while providing excellent customer service to producers. Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair dairy equipment and milking systems. Perform routine maintenance on milking equipment including pulsators, vacuum pumps, milk lines, and parlor components. Repair pumps, motors, and other mechanical equipment. Install and repair PVC and copper plumbing systems. Perform structural steel repairs and fabrication using MIG, TIG, or stick welding. Safely operate forklifts, skid steers, and other heavy equipment. Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment failures. Read wiring diagrams and use diagnostic software to identify equipment, electrical, and sensor issues. Troubleshoot milking parlor equipment and restore systems to proper operation. Update and interpret herd management software and cow monitoring systems. Maintain service truck inventory and ensure commonly used replacement parts are stocked. Complete service documentation and communicate effectively with customers. Travel regularly to customer dairy and livestock facilities. Safely operate a company vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license. Participate in an on-call rotation, including evenings, weekends, and emergency service calls. Work safely around livestock, machinery, electricity, and varying weather conditions. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment while delivering excellent customer service. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Experience with dairy equipment, milking parlors, agricultural equipment, or mechanical repair preferred but not required. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Experience with welding, plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems preferred. Ability to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot equipment. Own basic hand tools (such as a drill, impact driver, reciprocating saw, grinder, etc.) preferred but not required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to lift 50-70 pounds and work in physically demanding environments, including confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions.
