Job Description

Heavy Equipment Parts Runner (Entry Path into Maintenance) RES Coal mines metallurgical coal — the coal that goes into steelmaking, not power plants — from active surface mines across central Pennsylvania. We're privately owned, stable, and busy year-round. We're hiring a full-time Heavy Equipment Parts Runner to keep our mechanics and lube techs supplied in the field. You'll be at every mine site, the shop, and the parts counter, which makes this the best seat in the company for learning how the whole operation runs. We want someone who plans to stay, learn, and work their way into maintenance.

IS THIS YOU?

This is a driving-and-parts job built as a way into our maintenance crew. It's a fit if you can say yes to most of these:

▪ Valid driver's license and a clean or acceptable MVR

▪ You want to learn heavy equipment and eventually turn wrenches on it

▪ You're organized — you keep track of what went where and who has it

▪ You think on your feet — when a part is wrong or a plan changes, you work out what to do next

▪ You can use a phone, email, and a basic spreadsheet

▪ You're comfortable driving to remote mine sites in all weather

▪ You can lift and handle heavy parts safely

▪ You can communicate in English about job duties and safety procedures Already turning wrenches? Ask about our Heavy Equipment Mechanic and Heavy Equipment Lube Technician postings.

WHY WORK HERE

▪ A real path into maintenance — you learn the fleet, the parts, and the people before you pick up a wrench

▪ You see the whole operation — every mine site, the shop, and the preparation plant

▪ Pay that grows with you — get your Class B CDL and you move to the top of the range

▪ Benefits start on day one

▪ Privately owned and diversified — the work does not stop when the weather turns

▪ Safety-first — production never comes before safety In short — we're hiring the next mechanic, not just a driver.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Parts Runner reports to our Maintenance Coordinator and keeps parts, tools, fluids, and supplies moving between our Clearfield shop, vendors, and active mine sites in Clearfield, Centre, Blair, and Cambria Counties. When a machine goes down in the field, the mechanic is counting on the right part showing up when you said it would. You're the link that makes that happen — and the one who brings the failed parts and cores back so nothing gets lost and nothing gets paid for twice.

WHAT YOU'LL BE SUPPORTING

▪ Cat 777 haul trucks

▪ Cat D11 dozers

▪ Cat 992 and 980 wheel loaders

▪ Blasthole drills

▪ Small support excavators

▪ Tri-axles, service trucks, and lube trucks

▪ You will learn these machines by part number before you learn them by wrench

A TYPICAL DAY

▪ Check in with the Maintenance Coordinator and field mechanics on what each site needs

▪ Pick up parts from vendors and our warehouse, and confirm they match the order before you leave

▪ Deliver parts, tools, filters, and fluids to mine sites and the shop

▪ Bring back failed components and cores for return or rebuild

▪ Log what was received, delivered, and transferred, and flag anything that doesn't add up

▪ Keep the parts room organized so anyone can find what they need

▪ Help the mechanics and lube techs on jobs when the runs are done

▪ Line up tomorrow's runs before you leave

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Here's what good looks like to us — and what we promote on:

▪ You're consistent — the right part gets there when you said it would, every time, without cutting corners on the road

▪ You keep getting better and look for ways to make the parts flow run smoother

▪ You show up on time, every day

▪ You fit the crew — you pull your weight and people work well with you

▪ You finish your runs each day

▪ You plan ahead so tomorrow starts with parts already moving

▪ You ask questions and keep learning the equipment

▪ When plans change, you figure out the next best move instead of waiting to be told

PAY & EARNINGS

What you'll actually earn: $51,480

  • 71,500 / year $18
  • 25 per hour on our typical 50-hour week with overtime after 40 hours.

Where you start depends on experience. The top of the range requires a Class B CDL. We pay weekly.

▪ No CDL yet? You can still start here. Earn your Class B and your rate moves up

▪ Five 10-hour shifts, Monday-Friday

▪ Occasional extended shifts or Saturdays when a machine is down — planned in advance whenever we can

BENEFITS

Coverage starts your first day — not after a 90-day wait. (Short

  • and long-term disability begin after a short waiting period.) ▪ Medical through Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield or UPMC — choose a high
  • or low-deductible plan ▪ Cover just yourself, you + spouse, you + kids, or your whole family — premiums run $55
  • 125 per week ▪ Dental and vision insurance ▪ Vision plan covers a new pair of prescription safety glasses every year ▪ 401(k): 3% safe harbor (we put in 3% even if you contribute nothing) plus a match up to another 3% — up to 6% total from the company ▪ Life insurance ▪ $100 annual boot allowance ▪ Minimum two weeks paid time off ▪ Tuition assistance and the employee family scholarship program ▪ Steady, year-round employment
WORKING CONDITIONS & SAFETY

▪ Work performed in mine, shop, and outdoor environments, and on public roads

▪ Exposure to varying weather and industrial settings

▪ Regular lifting and handling of heavy parts and components

▪ Required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear

▪ Drug

  • and alcohol-free workplace with pre-employment and random testing
WHERE THIS LEADS

This job is built as a starting point. RES Coal promotes from within, and a Parts Runner who learns the fleet and the crew is first in line for maintenance openings — lube technician, welder, rebuild mechanic, shop or field mechanic, and parts and inventory roles. A Class B CDL is required to move into field maintenance and preferred for shop maintenance, where it lets you run fleet inspections. Add a tanker endorsement and you are in position for a lube truck. Tell us where you want to end up and we will work on getting you there.

NICE TO HAVE

▪ Class B CDL (required for the top of the pay range and for field maintenance roles)

▪ Tanker endorsement

▪ MSHA surface training

▪ Parts counter, warehouse, or inventory experience

▪ Mechanical background — farm, construction, automotive, or trade school

▪ Familiarity with Caterpillar equipment or part numbers
