South Florida Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Service Technician with advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities to service complex residential and commercial HVAC systems. This position is intended for a highly skilled technician who can independently diagnose difficult HVAC problems, perform advanced repairs, commission equipment, and troubleshoot VRF/VRV systems, commercial rooftop units, communicating systems, inverter-driven equipment, controls, and conventional HVAC systems . The ideal candidate understands HVAC systems beyond basic component replacement and is capable of determining the root cause of system failures using proper diagnostic procedures, manufacturer specifications, technical documentation, electrical testing, refrigerant analysis, airflow measurements, and system performance data. This is not an entry-level or intermediate HVAC position . Primary Responsibilities Diagnose and repair complex residential and commercial HVAC systems. Perform advanced electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, airflow, and control-system diagnostics. Troubleshoot systems systematically and identify the root cause of failures rather than replacing parts based on assumptions. Service and troubleshoot VRF and VRV systems . Service and troubleshoot commercial rooftop units (RTUs) . Diagnose communicating HVAC systems and proprietary controls . Troubleshoot inverter-driven compressors, variable-speed motors, electronic expansion valves, sensors, control boards, and communication networks. Perform equipment startup and commissioning . Verify proper system operation after installation or major repair. Perform warranty diagnostics and repairs. Perform advanced preventive maintenance and system performance evaluations. Read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, sequence-of-operation documentation, technical manuals, and manufacturer service literature. Properly document diagnostic findings, measurements, repairs, recommendations, and equipment conditions. Communicate technical findings clearly and professionally to customers, property managers, office personnel, and other technicians. Provide repair and replacement recommendations based on actual system condition. Identify additional system deficiencies discovered during service. Assist other HVAC technicians with difficult diagnostic situations when required. Follow company diagnostic procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Maintain professional workmanship and customer service standards. Participate in the company's on-call rotation. Required Advanced Technical Knowledge Candidates should have strong working knowledge in the following areas:

VRF / VRV

Systems VRF/VRV system operation and sequence Heat pump and heat recovery systems Branch selector / branch controller systems Electronic expansion valves Inverter compressors Communication networks Addressing and configuration Sensors and thermistors Error-code diagnostics Refrigerant circuit troubleshooting System startup and commissioning Manufacturer diagnostic software and service tools Experience with manufacturers such as Daikin, Mitsubishi, LG, Samsung, Carrier/Toshiba, or similar VRF/VRV platforms is highly desirable. Commissioning & Startup The Senior HVAC Technician should be capable of performing and documenting equipment startup and commissioning procedures including: Verify equipment installation Verify electrical requirements Verify voltage and amperage Confirm correct system configuration Confirm equipment addressing when applicable Verify airflow Measure static pressure Verify refrigerant charge Measure superheat and subcooling when applicable Verify sensor operation Verify compressor operation Verify blower operation Verify staging and capacity control Verify thermostat and control communication Review system fault history Confirm condensate drainage Verify safety controls Perform complete operational testing Document final operating conditions Leadership & Technical Support As a Senior Technician, you may occasionally be expected to: Assist technicians with difficult service calls. Provide technical guidance during complex diagnostics. Help identify incorrect diagnostic procedures. Verify major repair recommendations. Assist with difficult startups and commissioning. Help improve diagnostic consistency throughout the service department. Share technical knowledge with less experienced technicians. Maintain a professional standard other technicians can follow. This position does not necessarily require formal management responsibilities , but it does require technical leadership. Customer Service & Communication Technical ability alone is not sufficient.
