Commercial HVAC Position Overview We are seeking an experienced HVAC Low Voltage Wiring Technician to join our growing commercial HVAC team. This position is responsible for installing, wiring, troubleshooting, and supporting low-voltage electrical and control systems associated with commercial HVAC equipment. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with HVAC controls, control wiring, thermostats, sensors, relays, actuators, control panels, and related low-voltage components. Candidates should be comfortable working independently in the field, reading wiring diagrams and schematics, and coordinating with HVAC technicians, controls personnel, project managers, and other trades. Work will be performed at commercial facilities throughout Long Island and New York City. Key Responsibilities Install and terminate low-voltage wiring for commercial HVAC equipment and control systems. Perform control wiring for air-handling units, rooftop units, split systems, VAV boxes, pumps, boilers, chillers, exhaust fans, and other HVAC equipment. Install and connect thermostats, temperature sensors, pressure sensors, relays, actuators, transformers, switches, and other control devices. Wire HVAC control panels and field devices according to project drawings and specifications. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and control sequences. Perform point-to-point wiring and verify proper terminations. Troubleshoot low-voltage wiring, communication, and control issues. Test circuits using appropriate meters and diagnostic equipment. Assist with equipment start-up, testing, and commissioning. Identify wiring deficiencies and make necessary repairs or corrections. Coordinate field activities with HVAC service technicians, controls technicians, project managers, electricians, and other trades. Maintain accurate documentation of completed work and field changes. Follow company procedures and all applicable jobsite and safety requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Qualifications Prior experience performing low-voltage wiring for HVAC or building control systems required. Strong understanding of 24V HVAC control circuits. Experience with commercial HVAC equipment and controls strongly preferred. Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and electrical/control schematics. Experience troubleshooting control circuits and low-voltage wiring. Familiarity with BAS/BMS systems and HVAC controls is a plus. Knowledge of relays, transformers, sensors, actuators, thermostats, and control panels. Ability to use multimeters and other electrical diagnostic tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a field team. Professional communication skills when working with customers, contractors, and other trades. Must have a valid New York State driver's license and acceptable driving record. Must be available to travel to jobsites throughout New York City and Long Island. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and work with hands and tools. Safely climb and work from ladders and elevated work areas. Work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, ceilings, and other commercial HVAC environments. Lift, carry, push, and pull tools, materials, equipment, and supplies typically associated with HVAC low-voltage installation work. Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and jobsite conditions. Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
