Job Description

About the Role We are currently looking for a capable and versatile HVAC Service Technician to become a key member of our crew. You will be tasked with independently managing the diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of residential and light-commercial climate control systems. Our goal is to find a seasoned professional who can operate autonomously in the field, handling customer visits with minimal oversight. While technical proficiency is our priority, we also value your ability to engage with clients. We are seeking a dedicated technician who can clearly explain system issues and provide professional guidance, ensuring our customers feel confident in the solutions you recommend.
Core Responsibilities Maintenance:
Conduct thorough system inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment longevity.
Customer Service:
Translate complex technical issues into clear language for homeowners, fostering trust while reviewing repair options and costs.
Consultative Recommendations:
Offer expert advice on necessary repairs or system upgrades while identifying valid opportunities to improve customer comfort. Technical Expertise We are looking for candidates who possess extensive experience in troubleshooting and diagnostics across the following areas: AC units and gas-powered furnaces. Heat pump technology and ductless or mini-split systems. Oil-fired equipment and boiler systems. Electrical troubleshooting, controls, and thermostat calibration. Refrigeration diagnostics, airflow analysis, and ductwork repairs.
Employment Standards Certifications:
Must hold a current EPA Certification.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
License:
A clean driving record and a valid driver's license.
Physical Ability:
Capable of lifting 50 lbs and navigating tight spaces like attics or crawlspaces, as well as climbing ladders to support safe site access.
Tools:
Proficiency in operating standard hand tools, power tools, and specialized HVAC diagnostic equipment.
Soft Skills:
Exceptional communication and customer service abilities combined with a strong aptitude for independent problem-solving to ensure high-quality service outcomes. Desired Qualifications Extensive background in service and diagnostics, prioritizing those with a history beyond simple installation work. Proven, hands-on expertise with oil-fired equipment and boilers to effectively manage a diverse range of system types. Compensation and Benefits Incentive-based commission structures for system sales and repairs. Paid time off including personal days and holidays. Retirement savings with an IRA match of up to 3%. Comprehensive medical coverage. Candidate Evaluation During the screening process, we will focus on the following criteria to ensure a great fit: 1. Can you independently identify and resolve HVAC system failures? 2. Is your primary professional background in service rather than installation? 3. How would you rate your electrical troubleshooting skills? 4. Which specific types of equipment are you most comfortable servicing? 5. Do you have experience working on oil equipment and boilers? 6. Are you proficient with mini-split systems and heat pumps? 7. Can you effectively communicate repair or replacement options to our clients? 8. Are you prepared to handle field service calls independently in a company vehicle? 9. What is your primary motivation for seeking a new career opportunity? 10. What are your specific compensation requirements to transition into this role?
