Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Senior HVAC Install Mechanic with extensive commercial HVAC installation experience to join our Special Projects team. This role is responsible for leading and performing complex HVAC installations, system replacements, and equipment changeouts while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications. The Senior HVAC Install Mechanic will work closely with Project Managers, Foremen, and subcontractors, providing technical expertise, leadership, and guidance to installation teams throughout all phases of a project. Key Responsibilities Perform commercial HVAC installations, system replacements, and equipment changeouts on a variety of commercial construction and retrofit projects. Install and coordinate the installation of ductwork, air handlers, chillers, rooftop units (RTUs), VRF systems, and other HVAC-related equipment. Interpret blueprints, specifications, and project plans to ensure accurate and timely project completion. Install copper refrigerant piping for VRF and split systems, including brazing, soldering, pressure testing, evacuation procedures, and refrigerant charging. Perform complete duct system installations, including low- and medium-pressure ductwork, spiral duct, fiber duct, and Category I-IV venting systems. Calculate airflow requirements using a Ductulator and verify proper sizing of equipment, ductwork, and grilles/registers/diffusers (GRDs). Conduct material takeoffs for ductwork, piping, and HVAC equipment as required. Assist Project Managers and Foremen with labor planning, material forecasting, and project scheduling. Lead, train, and mentor junior mechanics and installers. Identify and resolve installation issues before they impact project schedules or quality standards. Verify field conditions and coordinate modifications as needed to maintain project accuracy. Coordinate effectively with subcontractors and other trades to ensure project success. Document daily progress, labor hours, material usage, and project updates. Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all company and OSHA safety standards. Serve as a professional representative of the company by demonstrating strong leadership, accountability, and ethical business practices. Required Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of commercial HVAC installation experience. Proven experience with commercial HVAC system installations and equipment changeouts. Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, installation methods, and industry best practices. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents. Ability to perform trade-related calculations and measurements accurately. Proficiency in the use of HVAC installation tools, power tools, and testing equipment. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to lead crews and work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Valid EPA Certification required. Preferred Qualifications OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices. Experience working with A2L refrigerants and safe handling procedures. Experience leading small installation teams on commercial projects. Familiarity with labor tracking, material management, and project documentation. Strong understanding of commercial HVAC control systems and system startup procedures.
