Available Benefits Help for . Description This is skilled work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electronic, pneumatic, and electrical controls in campus buildings (computer oriented). Performs preventative maintenance and repair on HVAC air handler units, and controls, and trouble shoots and repairs handicap automated door systems, campus card access systems, fire alarms, security systems, and electric motors. Must be qualified to operate the Central Plant and all associated equipment. May be required to supervise and instruct a helper(s) in the maintenance and repair of any of the above mentioned equipment. Work is performed under general supervision. Must show initiative, independent judgment, and attitude conducive to the general well-being of the University Examples Installs, trouble shoots, and repairs any and all controls (includes computer equipment associated with above). Works on pumps, appliances, motors, and fans. Preventative maintenance on all of the above electronic and electrical components associated with controls. Solicits bids and makes spot purchases as needed. Inventories, orders, and receives this stock. Calibrates and tests all controls. Maintains records and prepares reports on repairs and service. Performs other duties as assigned and/or required. Physical Condition Moderate physical activity with occasional lifting of objects weighing over fifty pounds, with an ability to climb ladders and stairs. Requires employment physical exam. Experience Five years experience in electronics, pneumatic, HVAC, and general equipment repair and construction of systems. Two years of the above must be with computer oriented equipment, including Plain English Programming related to HVAC building controls. Vocational school training preferred. Additional experience in related fields will be considered. Knowledge Complete knowledge of instruments and test equipment necessary for the above work. Thorough knowledge of electronics, pneumatics, and electrical principles and the computer operation of these. Education Minimum of high school graduation and vocational school training (or equivalent, such as 10 years experience in related fields). Additional Requirements Ability to follow oral instructions, blueprints, and schematics. Ability to learn to operate the Central Plant in its entirety and may be required to operate it from time to time. Be capable of making sketches or lay outs and maintaining necessary records for future servicing. Be capable of supervising helpers in an efficient manner.
Must be available some nights and weekends.
Employment physical exam required.
Must periodically serve on a standby or on-call basis.
