Job Description

Lead HVAC Technician role for mission-critical data center mechanical systems. Join a leading provider of mission-critical facility services as an HVAC Technician III, Critical Systems, based in Ashburn, VA. In this senior-level role, you will serve as the lead technician overseeing the installation, maintenance, and operation of mechanical systems in a high-availability data center environment. This position offers the opportunity to mentor junior technicians, ensure compliance with contractual obligations, and play a key role in maintaining the reliability of essential infrastructure. Responsibilities Lead and perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on all HVAC equipment, including air and water-cooled chillers, centrifugal and screw package chillers, natural gas boilers, unit heaters, electric duct heaters, cooling towers, and various water pumps. Operate, maintain, and upgrade Building Automation Software and controls, including pneumatic, DDC, and variable frequency drive systems. Oversee HVAC air distribution systems, such as air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), fans, and related devices. Monitor and ensure compliance with contractual commitments for mechanical services and maintenance. Provide guidance, leadership, and technical expertise to junior technicians, supporting their development and training. Participate in on-call rotations and respond to after-hours assignments as required. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to maintenance activities and system performance. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to support facility operations. Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance as an essential function of the role. Travel up to 50% to job sites as needed Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 7 years of large commercial HVAC service experience required; 8 years preferred. Completion of a basic air conditioning theory class. Proficiency in the use of HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments. Experience with DDC, pneumatic, and variable frequency drive controls. Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software. Ability to satisfactorily complete any required client background checks or training. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification preferred. Virginia Journeyman HVAC license preferred. OSHA certification preferred. Valid Virginia or Maryland drivers license required. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance preferred. Travel up to 50% to job sites as needed Offered compensation: $25/yr - $40/yr Experience and License Requirements Commercial HVAC DDC, pneumatic, and variable frequency drive controls EPA Universal Certification (optional) Virginia Journeyman HVAC license (optional)
