Job Summary The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment and facility systems in a food manufacturing environment. This position supports safe and efficient plant operations by providing both mechanical and electrical expertise for processing, packaging, automation, and utility systems. The role is responsible for minimizing equipment downtime while ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and safety standards. We have one day shift position available (7:00 am - 7:00 pm). We operate on a "Continental" 2-2-3 shift in which you will work (7) 12-hour days out of 14 days in a two week period. Working every other weekend will be required as a part of this shift. Mechanical Responsibilities Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain processing, packaging, and material handling equipment. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, compressors, mixers, fillers, ovens, and packaging equipment. Repair and replace bearings, chains, sprockets, belts, seals, valves, and other mechanical components. Perform welding, fabrication, and machining as needed to support equipment repairs. Inspect machinery for wear and identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency. Assist with installation and startup of new equipment and production lines. Electrical Responsibilities Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems up to 480V three-phase. Maintain and repair motors, motor starters, relays, VFDs, sensors, control panels, and electrical distribution systems. Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and assist with programming modifications as necessary. Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, ladder logic, and technical manuals. Install electrical components, conduit, wiring, and control devices according to applicable codes and standards. Support instrumentation, automation, and process control systems. General Maintenance Responsibilities Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to reduce recurring failures. Complete work orders and accurately document maintenance activities in the CMMS system. Maintain spare parts inventory and identify critical replacement components. Participate in continuous improvement, cost reduction, and equipment reliability initiatives. Work closely with production, sanitation, quality, and engineering teams to maximize equipment performance. Food Safety and Quality Responsibilities Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP requirements, and food safety policies. Ensure maintenance activities do not compromise product quality or food safety. Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment. Report food safety concerns and equipment conditions that may impact product integrity. Comply with allergen control and sanitation procedures. Safety Responsibilities Follow all company safety programs and policies. Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures before servicing equipment. Adhere to confined space, hot work, fall protection, and electrical safety requirements. Utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Participate in safety meetings and training programs. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Technical degree, industrial maintenance certification, electrical apprenticeship, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience. Advanced experience troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical systems (single and three phase) in a manufacturing environment. Ability to read mechanical drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics. Experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, and industrial controls. Knowledge of PLCs such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar systems. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as needed. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of maintenance experience in a food, beverage, dairy, bakery, or consumer packaged goods manufacturing facility. Experience with refrigeration, boilers, compressed air, or ammonia systems. Welding and fabrication experience. CMMS experience (eMaint, MP2, SAP, Maximo, etc.).
