We combine industry experience, professional training, and technology to provide reliable service to our clients throughout New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania. We are looking for a talented and experienced Elevator Service & Repair Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting and repair skills and be capable of independently diagnosing and repairing a variety of traction and hydraulic elevator systems. Responsibilities Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and adjust mechanical and electrical components on traction and hydraulic elevators. Perform preventive maintenance and routine service to ensure safe and reliable operation of elevator equipment. Examine, clean, lubricate, adjust, and replace elevator components as necessary. Respond to service calls, equipment breakdowns, and elevator callbacks in a timely and professional manner. Diagnose electrical problems involving relay logic, motor controls, safety circuits, door operators, and microprocessor-based control systems. Diagnose and repair mechanical issues involving machines, brakes, sheaves, bearings, pumps, valves, motors, door equipment, leveling systems, and other elevator components. Perform elevator troubleshooting, adjustments, and repairs in accordance with applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, and company procedures. Perform required 1-year and 5-year elevator inspections and complete any necessary repairs or adjustments. Identify potential equipment problems during routine maintenance and recommend corrective action before failures occur. Maintain accurate service records, inspection documentation, and repair reports. Communicate professionally with customers, building management, and other members of the CAP Elevator team. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Successfully complete service calls and repairs in a professional, efficient, and profitable manner. Participate in emergency and after-hours service responsibilities as required. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in the elevator industry , preferably in service and repair. Current IUEC union membership is a plus. NJ Elevator Mechanic License required. Strong knowledge of traction and hydraulic elevator systems. Must be able to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics. Strong understanding of both relay logic and microprocessor-based control systems . Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control-system problems. Must be capable of working independently and making sound decisions in the field. Must be physically capable of meeting the daily demands of elevator service and repair work, including working in hoistways, pits, machine rooms, and other confined or physically demanding environments. Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills. Professional communication and customer-service skills. Self-motivated, dependable, and able to manage multiple service responsibilities. Aptitude in using hand tools, power tools, electrical testing equipment, and precision measurement tools. Clean and valid driver's license.
