Job Description
Position Summary The Utility Aide is a member of the Maintenance Department who supports the upkeep, cleanliness, safety, organization, and day-to-day physical operations of the assisted living and/or memory care community under the direction of maintenance leadership. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assist the Maintenance Director or designee with routine maintenance tasks, basic repairs, preventive maintenance, and community upkeep within demonstrated competency. Assist with apartment turns, room setups, furniture movement, deliveries, storage organization, and preparation of spaces for new residents. Perform routine grounds and exterior upkeep such as litter removal, light landscaping support, and maintaining clean entrances and service areas. Collect and transport trash, recycling, boxes, or bulk items to designated disposal areas as assigned. Assist with replacing light bulbs, filters, batteries, hardware, and other basic maintenance items when trained and authorized. Set up and break down tables, chairs, equipment, and supplies for community activities, meetings, and special events. Maintain maintenance shops, storage areas, carts, tools, and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Identify and promptly report safety hazards, damaged equipment, leaks, unusual odors, building concerns, or resident maintenance requests. Assist vendors and contractors with access or staging as directed by maintenance leadership. Do not perform licensed or specialized electrical, plumbing, HVAC, firesafety, or other regulated work unless properly qualified and authorized. Maintain resident, employee, and company confidentiality in accordance with applicable privacy requirements and company policy. Follow community policies, safety practices, infection prevention procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal requirements. Participate in required training, inservices, meetings, and emergency preparedness activities. Provide respectful, residentcentered service and work collaboratively with residents, families, visitors, coworkers, vendors, and healthcare partners. Perform other duties as assigned based on community needs and within the scope of the position. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred unless otherwise required. Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn general maintenance practices. Ability to safely use basic hand tools and maintenance equipment after training. Dependable, serviceoriented, organized, and able to follow instructions and safety procedures. Preferred Experience & Skills Previous maintenance, grounds, housekeeping, facilities, apartment, hospitality, or senior living experience preferred. Physical & Work Requirements Ability to perform frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and carrying. Ability to lift and carry up to approximately 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to work indoors and outdoors and safely use assigned tools and equipment.
