Capstone On-Campus Management (COCM), with headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama, is a group of student housing professionals focused exclusively on the management of housing communities owned by non-profits and/or highly affiliated with a university.
Summary:
A Student Assistant assists with daily business operations and preventative maintenance tasks in the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and general upkeep of grounds, common areas, and exterior spaces. Replace air filters, light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, thermostat batteries, and other minor maintenance items. Assist with basic plumbing repairs, spill cleanup, mopping, water extraction, and other routine maintenance needs. Assist with cleaning and maintaining common-area restrooms and laundry facilities. Provide scheduled office coverage, including answering and directing telephone calls and assisting residents and visitors. Receive, log, organize, and distribute packages and mail. Receive, document, and route maintenance requests and assist with related paperwork and recordkeeping. Assist with resident move-in and move-out activities, including providing operational support before and after the academic year as needed. Provide general support to maintenance and operations staff. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High school diploma. Current student at San Diego State University - Imperial Valley Campus Demonstrate proficiency in verbal communication. Possess strong customer service skills. Ability to operate basic office equipment including a photocopier, fax, and telephone. Basic typing and filing skills Must have troubleshooting and diagnostic skills Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and navigate up and down stairs. The noise level is usually moderate. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
