An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated leader to join our Transport team as Team Leader Road Maintenance - North. In this key leadership role, you'll lead the delivery of the Northern & Central Road Maintenance Contract, ensuring Christchurch's roading network continues to provide safe, reliable and cost-effective outcomes for our communities. About the team | Ko te rōpū nei The Transport team is responsible for planning, managing and maintaining Christchurch's transport network. Through effective asset management, contract delivery and stakeholder engagement, the team works to ensure the city's infrastructure continues to support a growing and thriving community. About the role | Ko te mahi nei As Team Leader Road Maintenance - North, you will oversee the delivery and performance of the Northern & Central Road Maintenance Contract while leading a small team of dedicated professionals.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing the delivery, quality and performance of road maintenance contracts to achieve agreed levels of service. Providing leadership, technical advice and support to your team and wider stakeholders. Managing an annual operational budget of approximately $20 million, including expenditure monitoring and forecasting. Working closely with capital delivery teams to ensure seamless integration between maintenance and renewal programmes. Ensuring maintenance activities deliver value for money while maintaining safe and reliable network performance. Building and maintaining strong relationships with contractors, consultants, elected members, Community Boards and internal stakeholders. Managing customer enquiries and proactively resolving maintenance-related issues. Identifying opportunities to improve maintenance systems, processes and contract outcomes. Supporting procurement activities, contract renewals and the delivery of special projects as required. Providing engineering and asset management expertise to support the ongoing stewardship of Christchurch's roading network.
