Group is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician Lead to keep manufacturing equipment operating safely and reliably while guiding and training maintenance staff. This hands-on role combines machine troubleshooting and repair with daily work coordination, preventive maintenance planning, and basic reporting in Microsoft Excel. Technical maintenance experience with ACME Gridley screw machines preferred. Full-Time position located in Machesney Park, IL. 3-Day Weekends! Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, and maintain ACME Gridley screw machines preferred, manufacturing maintenance required.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues within your training and authorization; coordinate specialized repairs when needed.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance priorities and guide staff on assigned work, balancing urgent repairs with scheduled preventive maintenance.
  • Train and coach maintenance staff on troubleshooting, safe work practices, equipment care, and maintenance procedures. Guide production staff on approved routine machine checks.
  • Plan, perform, and track preventive maintenance using machine manuals, service history, and production needs.
  • Maintain basic Excel preventive maintenance reports, including machine identification, scheduled and completed service dates, findings, repairs, downtime, and follow-up actions.
  • Review overdue maintenance and recurring breakdowns; recommend practical improvements to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Coordinate planned maintenance with production and communicate equipment status, repair progress, and unresolved issues to management.
  • Monitor critical spare parts and supplies, recommend replenishment, and coordinate outside service providers as directed.
  • Read machine manuals, drawings, and electrical schematics; use precision measuring tools and appropriate diagnostic equipment.
  • Follow and reinforce company safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and required personal protective equipment. Verify safe operation before returning equipment to production.
  • Respond to building maintenance needs and keep maintenance tools, work areas, and service records organized. Qualifications
  • Proven hands-on industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience, including technical troubleshooting and repair of ACME Gridley screw machines.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems relevant to manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to guide and train others, explain technical tasks clearly, and follow through on assigned work.
  • Basic Microsoft Excel skills to enter and update maintenance records, sort and filter information, and prepare simple preventive maintenance summaries.
  • Ability to read technical documentation and use precision measuring tools.
  • Strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and prioritize competing maintenance needs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Personal hand tools are required.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

$28.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
