SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTIONS
The primary purpose of this job is to direct the day-to-day activities of the Plant Operations Department in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing this facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator or designee, and to assure that the facility is maintained in a safe, and comfortable manner. This is a working supervisory position.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS 1.
Supervise staff, make job assignments and set priorities. Monitor work assignments, provide feedback, evaluate performance, and discipline as needed. 2. Supervise staff in all aspects of cleaning and maintaining the mechanical operations of the facility; ensure residents' rooms are safe, comfortable, and maintained in an attractive manner and that residents' personal items are safeguarded; ensure cleaning schedules are followed; coordinate daily housekeeping services with other departments. 3. Participate in preparation of annual budget. Manages hours of labor including overtime and departmental expenses, to ensure sound management of the department and compliance with budgetary targets. 4. Interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate and discipline departmental associates. Participate in recruitment, selection, and retention efforts. Keep associates informed of changes that affect them. 5. Conduct, attend, and participate in orientation, training, ongoing in-service education activities and staff meetings. 6. Develop policies and procedures for assigned areas of responsibility. Ensure staff education and compliance. 7. Ensure equipment and work areas are clean, safe, and orderly. Ensure adherence to universal precautions, infection control, isolation, fire, safety, and hazardous materials precautions. 8. May serve on CQI Committee and subcommittees as assigned. Provide reports, statistics and trend analysis of primary areas of responsibility as needed. 9. Maintains current knowledge of primary areas of responsibility through attendance of educational programs. 10. Supervise Construction Contractors 11. Gain and acquire knowledge of Life Safety 12. Continuously use the computerized maintenance management system.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or in the process of completing high school education
  • Experience in supervisory capacity
  • Must possess knowledge of life safety regulations in skilled nursing and licensed assisted living.
  • Must possess knowledge of laws, regulations and guidelines concerning skilled nursing and licensed assisted living.
  • Experience with construction oversight is preferred but not required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
